Vocation Summit – St. Joseph Seminary
October 9, 6-9pm Do you love the priesthood and religious life? Would you
like to learn more about how you can promote vocations
in your parish? Then join us for a delicious meal, free of
charge, at St. Joseph Seminary in Yonkers. Our guest
speaker is Rhonda Gruenewald, an expert from Houston
who has literally “written the book” on how to effectively
run a parish-based vocations ministry. Also at the dinner,
we’ll unveil our new four-point Archdiocesan Vocation
Plan. Please note: Attending the dinner does not obligate
you to more volunteer duties. It is a night to learn, be
inspired, and perhaps take home some best practices to
your parish. See more details and RSVP
at www.nypriest.com/vocationsummit.

St. Ann’s Parish 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time September 6, 2015
Many of you have been asking me how they can get tickets to attend the Pope’s Mass when he
comes to New York. I finally have an answer for that question! St. Ann’s has been allotted 10 tickets for
parishioners to attend the Papal Mass at Madison Square Garden on Friday, September 25th at 6:00 PM.
The only fair way to choose what people receive the tickets is by lottery. In today’s bulletin you will find
an insert requesting a ticket to attend the Papal Mass. We will take all eligible applications submitted and
draw ten of them in lottery form. All tickets must be for an individual, meaning you cannot request two
tickets for a couple or six tickets for your family. All individuals who submit a ticket must be able to get
themselves to Madison Square Garden for the Mass. For security purposes, we are NOT permitted to hire a
bus. To be eligible you must be 18 years or older and be a registered parishioner at St. Ann’s. You will
have to be at Madison Square Garden no later than 2:00 PM that day, and you will not be allowed to leave
until after 8:00 PM.
The timing for choosing the attendees is very tight: I have to give the full list to the Archdiocese on
September 11th. That means all ballots must be submitted no later than 8:00 PM on September 10th. I
will choose the winners after that and will contact those who won on September 11th, the same day I must
notify the Archdiocese.
It is important to note that YOU CANNOT GIVE THE TICKET TO ANOTHER PERSON TO
USE IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, so please, if you submit a ballot, you are committing yourself to use it
if you win. It would not be fair to other parishioners to ask for a ticket if there is a possibility you cannot
attend the Mass. I trust in your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 2015
On September 22-27, 2015, when Philadelphia
welcomes the 8th World Meeting of Families, pilgrims
from the Archdiocese of New York may want to
connect up with fellow New Yorkers. If new Yorkers
want to share their contact information with other
Archdiocesan New Yorkers, the Family Life + Respect
Life Office is willing to compile a list of people with
their contact information. Feel free to share your travel
plans and contact information by sending an email to
[email protected]. Send an email with your
information (name, contact number, and parish, and any
additional information you would like to share) and you
will be on a list of people who can then receive other
travelers’ contact information. For questions, or to
request fellow-travelers’ information (once you’ve
shared yours), call the Family Life + Respect Life
Office at 646-794-3185.
