Out of the BoxThe first steps after you turn on your iPad.

Enable Location Services

If you plan to use Find My

iPad or other geographic

based Apps, you need to

enable Location Services.

Find the Wireless Network

At school, you will connect

to Guest.

Choose SetupChoose Set Up as a New

iPad

Create a Free Apple ID

For the district iPads, you

will create an Apple ID

using your district email.

Select your birthdate.

This is used to help

retrieve your password if

you forget it.

Add Your Name

Enter your first and last

names using the keyboard.

Set EmailChoose Use your current

email address (which will

be your Farmington

address)

Type Your Email

Enter your work email. This

will be your Apple ID.

Create a Password.

Type your password. Do not

use your work password.

Create a reminder

question and answer.

Choose a question and

type your answer. This will

help you retrieve your

password if you forget it.

Choose Email Updates

If you want to receive

Apple news and updates,

leave the Email Updates

On.

Review the Terms of Service

Click Agree after you have

looked at the Terms.

Choose Don’t Use iCloud at

this time.Later you can set up

iCloud which is a place

online to store photos,

calendars and more.

Back UpChoose Back Up to My

Computer.

This will help locate a

lost iPad.

Sharing DiagnosticsSuggested setting is

Don’t Send diagnostic

information to Apple.

Click Start Using iPad!

Find the Serial NumberThe district uses the Serial Number to help with organization and support of district-owned iPads.

On the iPadYou can find the serial

number etched into the

back of the iPad.

Set a PasscodeSince you will be connecting your district email and other

resources to the iPad, you must protect your data. The first step is to set a Passcode.

Click on Passcode Lock

Turn it from Off to On.

Choose Turn Passcode On

Set your passcode.

This passcode should NOT

be the same as your

district password or your

Apple ID password.

Choose Erase Data

This will erase all data on

the iPad after 10 failed

passcode attempts. This is

a safety mechanism in

case the iPad is lost or

stolen.

Name your iPadThis is the naming convention for all district-owned iPads.

Fill in your iPad name

Your iPad name will be your

primary building – district

username in all caps.

For example….

DMS-JCHRISTENSEN

FHS-CJONES


Recommended
