During the last week of September 2011 staff and students from Cambridge School of Art’s Illustration (and Animation) course visited Seville in Southern Spain. The aim of this week of intensive drawing is to react to unfamiliar surroundings through intense observation, collecting and recording informa- tion in the form of sketchbooks. The images you see were completed on location and it is a credit to all involved that they were often produced in difficult public locations, cramped streets, busy markets, gutters and roadsides and very hot conditions (38 degrees most days!) Despite these obstacles, the quality and variety of work produced is a celebration of both Seville and the act of drawing. We would like to thank Philip Hodgkinson and all at Posers, whose generous contributions made the trip affordable for many students who otherwise may not have been able to join us. Thanks too to Anna Betts, who has coordinated the design and printing of this publication. Chris Draper Course Leader Illustration BA Cambridge School of Art ARU
