CCW and NRA FIREARMS

Missouri Concealed Carry (CCW)*TheMissouriConcealedCarryQualificationclass is a comprehensive training experience. Participants of this class receive training that exceeds the requirements for the Missouri Concealed Carry Permit.

TheMissouriConcealedCarryQualificationclass provides training in pistol safety, operations,mentalpreparation,andfirearmslaw. This class exceeds every aspect of the minimum state requirements.

*While this is NOT an NRA class, the class includes the NRA Basic Pistol curriculum in its entirety, as well as sections on personal security, tactics and the Missouri Revised Statutes. Instruction includes the types of firearmstobeconcealed;safeloadingandunloading;storageandcarryingfirearmsconcealed; and current state and federal codes, includingthosedefininglawfulfirearmuses.This course is at least eight hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.

Upon successful completion, you will receive the NRABasicPistolCertificate.Withthiscertificate,you will have met the classroom requirement for your CCW application, which requires you to master both the classroom and range portions of the class.

A Missouri resident must be at least 21 years old to apply for a concealed weapon endorsement. Both revolver and semi-automatic handguns are needed for this course. InstructorsarecertifiedbytheMotorcycleSafetyFoundation and the Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program. They will start with teaching straight-line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping. Students will gradually progress to cornering, swerving and emergency braking.

In the classroom, students will learn about the different types of motorcycles, their controls and how they operate. The instructors—all experienced motorcyclists—will advise on what to wear for protection and comfort. Students will learn how alcohol and other drugs affect the ability to ride safely. A very important segment of the course will show how to create a strategy forridingintrafficanddealingwithcriticalsituations.

For the riding portion of the course, come dressed appropriately with: • A DOT-approved helmet (half, three-quarter

or full face)• Long sleeve shirt or jacket • Valid ID-driver license or photo ID• Full-fingered gloves • Eyeglasses/sunglasses/goggles• Long pants without holes (e.g. NO fashion

jeans with ripped spots) • Boots or high top shoes that cover the ankle • Rain gear in case of rain • Drinking water and snacks

To enroll in this course you must: • Be able to ride a bicycle • Possess a valid driver’s license; a motorcycle

learner’s permit is not required to participate • Have parents or guardians sign a consent/

release form if you are under the age of 18 • Use motorcycles that are provided; personal

The course concludes with a knowledge test and a skill evaluation. Riders who pass will receive a Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card. RefundBecause LearningForce (noncredit) classes are self-supporting, the decision to run a class is based on the number of people enrolled. The college reserves the right to cancelifsufficientenrollmentisnotachieved.Every effort will be made to notify registrants by phone or mail if a class is canceled. Full refunds will be issued for classes canceled by the college.

If you need to cancel a class please contact ourofficeseven(7)daysbeforethestartdate to receive a full refund. Expenses such as supply fees, food costs, tour fees or other costs associated with the course besides the course fee will be refunded only if the LearningForce has not incurred those costs. If a course has an enrollment deadline, that date is also considered the cancellation deadline.

Inclement WeatherAnytime the State Fair Community College campus is closed due to inclement weather, Learning Force courses are canceled. In the event of inclement weather, the college may adjust campus opening/closing times or close the campus entirely. For inclement weather notices visit www.sfccmo.edu.

The college will contact local media with inclement weather announcements as soon as possible but cannot guarantee what times they will appear on radio or TV stations. Decisions may be announced by 9 p.m. for the next day, but all decisions will be announced by 5:30 a.m. the day of classes or by 3 p.m. for evening classes.
