    Captain Lazars Message

Captain David Lazar Commanding Officer Central Station

A resident was asking me about the street closures andtraffic re-routes for the upcoming Super Bowl Cityevent beginning on January 30, 2016. Please take alook at the website: sfmta.com/sb50.

    Goals for 2016

In addition to fighting crime and engaging the community in 2016, there are somespecific goals I have for our work at Central Station in 2016:

    1. We will work to reduce our violent crime and property crime by at least 10%.

    2. We are expanding our plainclothes team in an effort to continue our work in

capturing those responsible for crime.3. We will continue our partnership with the Homeless Outreach Team and Human

Services agency to connect homeless individuals to important services.

    4. I will be promoting the 4 Ps Pick Pocket Prevention Program. A partnershipwith Supervisor Peskins Office and various Chinatown organizations to warnpotential victims of pick pocket suspects on Stockton Street.

    5. We will celebrate the one year anniversary in February of having a team ofHousing Officers in the Ping Yuen Housing Development. We have much morework to do in the Ping Yuen by partnering with the residents.

    6. We will continue our work to engage the community including the youth of ourdistrict. Police Officers provide mentorship to our young people. We will workto expand our Social Media platform. (There are over 40 ways we engagewith the community at Central Station).

    7. We will be starting the Case Follow Up Program. In most cases where anInvestigator is not immediately assigned, a volunteer at the station will call thevictim to check on them, answer any questions they may have and providefollow up information. I will talk more about this in the weeks to come.

New Officers Arriving at Central Station

    Last.

As I conclude this weeks newsletter, the plainclothes team at Central Station this afternoon arrested one ofthe most prolific theft suspects, who happens to reside in the district. He is responsible for a lot of theft. Thisarrest should bring the thefts down this weekend!
