Combining a yearlong classroom apprenticeshipwith targeted master’s level coursework,SFTR provides Residents with the practicallearning, hands-on experience, andongoing support essential for successful careers in teaching.

San Francisco Teacher Residency (SFTR) is recruiting aspiring teachers—talented college graduates, career changers, and community members—who are committed to teaching critical subject areas in San Francisco’s hard-to-staff schools. We are looking for future math, science, bilingual, and elementary education teachers dedicated to increasing the number of students who graduate from high school prepared for college, careers, and civic responsibility.

“The most important lesson I have learned is the importance of relationships. As a resident, you meet many people: your students, your supervisor, your demonstration teacher, other residents, and university professors. Residents have the support of all these resources and utilizing these resources in your pathway to becoming a teacher is one of the best aspects of the residency.”

“Being a part of this residency has given me the opportunity to make my dream of becoming an educator in an urban setting a reality as I am a part of a cohort that is committed to making education accessible to groups that have historically been underserved and underrepresented.”
