Ask Nathan

I want a man with a career who's finally stable, goal- oriented and church going. And I don't

want someone who is a mama's boy or a drug habit. Are those unrealistic standards? Because I'm

having a hard time finding this guy. -Mark

Mark -

Those are great qualities to want in a man. I would suggest doing an inventory or a checklist if

you will. Be sure that you bring to the table all of the things that you are seeking. Also, ask

yourself if you are willing to support another person in achieving their goals to perhaps get to the

level you seek. Any good thing worth having will require work from all included parties.

Lester Greene: Stupid In Love

I remember when I first thought I was in love. My heartbeat jumped every single time he came around. I would get nervous just being in his company. I thought he was just so perfect in every way. I felt like a little kid before he finds out that his parents actually lie too. The sad reality is that you really don't know someone until you really get to know someone. How can you love someone at first sight? People always say that I knew he was the right one from the very beginning; it was love at first sight. Yeah, right. What you mean to say is that it was lust at first sight. A lot of people confuse lust for love. Think about it. How many people do we lust after in a single day? One, two, three... sixty-nine. Okay, just stop counting. My point is that we lust for a lot of peo-ple. You might see a nice, sexy man that you see as a perfect mate to bed, not realizing that you don't even know him. For some, it's not even about knowing the person, but more about just wanting to have sexual fantasies. Now there's nothing wrong that either, but I think it's very important to distinguish be-tween lust and love. I think a relationship that is based on lust is a stupid one because you need more than just that physical attraction to make a relationship work. Why do you think all of these celebrities fail miserably at love? They see it, they want it, they buy it - almost like a little kid in a candy store. Not everything you see is good for you. I think a lot of relationships fail because there's a lack of understanding and a lack of knowledge for the unknown. A good rule of thumb to remember is when in doubt, look before you leap. Jumping into a relationship too early is something that I know all too well. I met an older guy named Robert, who was a very distinguished man of many talents. I thought he was incredible from top to bot-tom, up until I decided to move in with him just after knowing him for 2 months. Also, keep in mind that I was just entering my twenties, and I was feeling like I knew everything. You couldn't tell me anything at all. Anyway, we started living together, and I began to see all of his imperfections and bad habits (as if I did-n't have any myself). I hated that he left the toilet seat up, I hated his morning breath, I hated the way he drove his car, and every little thing else that you could think of, I hated. Of course, the relationship ended and I was left sole-searching. I had to learn more about myself before I could accept somebody else in my life. This was, perhaps, my best medicine. I'm now convinced that people would rather fake being in love than be alone. It's not so much that they're faking it, but that they're in denial about their true feelings. Some people have different reasons for being in love and/or staying together. Some couples put on this act for their children's sake, while others main-tain a relationship for perks and business purposes. No matter the reason, I feel that you need to be genuine about how you feel, and respect yourself enough to own up to your reality, not what you read in a book, or what you see on the television screen. That said, TV programming is a big influence on shaping our beliefs and perceptions. We watch these soap opera-like shows, and we tend personalize with them. We then get caught up in that fantasy world, desperately wanting to become a part of it. See, I believe that our fantasies can play tricks on our minds, but the trick is to understand the mechanisms behind the fantasy and the reality. Call me old-fashioned or plain stupid for wanting to be in-the-know. Knowledge is power.

Romeo: Romeo Thomas Redwine is an uplifter. I enjoy helping people by uplifting their spirit.

Romeo: I was born in Newark but spent my childhood in Detroit and didn't move back here until

Romeo: No. Maurice and Sekiya are such a delight to work with.

Romeo: Smart and silly. Someone who can teach me something’s and allow me to teach him.

But most of all someone who is accepting of my many flaws.

Cleavester: What role do you play in the relationship?

Romeo: The man that has your back. I’ll wash your clothes if you love me right.

Romeo: It doesn't keep me awake at night but it is heavy on my mind. I desire a long lasting rela-

tionship.

Romeo: Yes just to see what I'm doing right and wrong. I'm my worst critic.

Cleavester: Are there people who become friends with you as a result of their

appearance on the show?

Romeo: I always try to keep in touch with all guests. We are all a community that needs to uplift

one another.

Romeo: No both are equally hard because when you put a camera in front of anybody they

change.

Cleavester: How much time goes into figuring out hair and makeup and what You’ll

wear on each show?

Romeo: Not long. I'm very back. Maurice is the fashionista. I'm fine with a t-shirt and jeans.

Cleavester: Do you ever coordinate with your guest.

Romeo: No. I try to keep everything fresh and real

Cleavester: Who haven’t you interviewed that you’d love to sit down with

Romeo: I would love to interview Rosie or Ellen. Both are amazing stars and ask them for tips

Romeo: Take it as their truth. When it plays out everyone including me will know the story.

Cleavester: What do you do when a guest freezes on you

Romeo: I laugh and joke. Works everytime.

Cleavester: Which show do you find people want to talk to you about most?

Romeo: The relationship show. People are stuck and need help.

Cleavester: Are there people you refuse to have on as a guest?

Romeo: Just anyone who hates gays for no reason.

Cleavester: Are there shows you do differently now?

Romeo: None I can think of.

Cleavester: Which shows are you proudest of?

Romeo: Each has unique energy but I personally enjoyed Last Offence. But I love them all. I'm

getting stronger daily.

Cleavester: Is it hard to let go of certain stories?

Romeo: No not really.

Cleavester: Are there any that stayed with you long after the show aired?

Romeo: Yes, but it hasn't aired. So I won't spoil it to you.

Cleavester: What is your Guilty Pleasure?

Romeo: I know it sounds so boring but I love reading the daily paper. I get such a rush of learn-

ing stuff that happened while I was sleep.

Cleavester: Describe a date with Romeo?

Romeo: We do the Staten Island Ferry then eat in Queens and then walk along the river in

Brooklyn. Their is so much to do outside of Manhattan....and its cheaper.

Cleavester: Do you know how to cook or do you microwave?

Romeo: I love to cook. I love trying new things as well.

Cleavester: What can we expect from you in the future?

Romeo: A more serious man who is determined to tell his story

Cleavester: Thank you, Romeo. Do you have any final remarks?

Romeo: One quote that is my motto that I heard: Love as if you never been hurt and dance as if

nobody is watching.
