The Man with the Twisted Lip

In "Sherlock Holmes short stories" we read how the famous private detective find out why some people have acted mysteriously and why others have disappeared or been attacked. All of this six short stories are told by Dr. Watson. Dr. Watson is Sherlock Holmes' best friend. In this stories, Dr. Watson doesn't live with Sherlock. He lives with his wife, Mary. And he has his own medical practice near Paddington Station.

Now, I am going to resum the first story: The man with the twisted lip. In this story, Sherlock Holmes must find out what happened to Mr. Saint Clair. He was seen lastly by his wife and he's disappeared for almost one week. Hugh Boone, a beggar, was the person whom Mr. Saint Clair was seen for the last time, so he's the main suspected of Mr. Saint Clair's disappearance. Mr. Boone is in the police station's jail meanwhile they are investigating.

When Mrs. Saint Clair received a letter from his husband, Holmes resolved this case. Hugh Boone was Mr. Saint Clair dress up as a beggar. Mr. Saint Clair had discover that he earn more money as a beggar than a reporter of a newspaper, so everyday he dress up and make up and he beggad on London streets. In order to hide this to his wife, he layed in prison almost one week until he were released without charges. But Sherlock Holmes found out the truth before.

OpinionShort Stories of Sherlock Holmes are very amusing and easy to read. The good thing is that you can try to get your own deductions to find out the end of the story. In short, being like Sherlock Holmes.Surprisingly to me, in the second story, The Engineer's Thumb, Sherlock Holmes can't put murderers in prison. In the same way, I thought that there won't be action or real danger in this stories. But, Dr. Watson is been injured by a gun shot in The three Garridebs. This things make stories more interestings.I have chosen the first story to make a summary because of it is the most obvious to me. As I said at the beginning, the best thing of detective stories is trying to find out what happened. In my opinion, The man with the twister lip is the most obvious story that I've ever read.

BlurbsIt's an interesting book with six short stories. The book grips you in every story. It's a good choice for those who love detective stories. I really recommend it.

Isabel González Rourich (Quintin Kynaston's Schoolgirl)

I would like to have investigations like Sherlock Holmes have. It seems amazing. I'm tired following infidel husbands.

Antonio Muñoz (Private Detective)

It's an easy book to understand. Also, I think Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was one of the greatest writers of all time. For this reason, I used to recommend his books to my students.

Clara Martínez (English Teacher)

It has been a very boring book. I can't understand how is possible to write any story without vampires or werewolfs. I think this kind of characters will improve Sherlock Holme's stories.

Juan Coto (Stephenie Meyer's fan)
