Pictures Angel Sanchez Mountains are not a stony ground for culture as sim4, a young Jazz quartet founded in 2006 in Central Switzerland, are proving. Bandleader Christian Simmen (trumpet, flugelhorn), Tino Horat (piano) and Christoph Gautschi (drums) were born in Uri, Peter Grossweiler (string bass) in Lucerne. All four musicians have studied at the Jazz-School in Lucerne. Sounds The musical range of sim4 reaches far beyond the impressive mountains of Central Switzerland. Their compositions – written by Christian Simmen during his stay in Australia (Melbourne and Sidney) in the summer of 2005 – cover a wide spectrum in the realm of Jazz. The quartet plays in various stiles such as Funk, Swing, Blues, Ballads, or Bossa Nova. Nevertheless, their music always remains unmistakably sim4. History The quartet’s first CD is called “Faked bacon”, recorded in June 2006 at the studio Gabrielrecordings (Switzerland).
