Rotor/Stator Lobes -Lobe count displayed in the conventional ratio form (e.g. 5/6). The simple form displays only the first digit and the second is assumed to be plus one. Stages - Number of full and partial turns of the helices which create the chambers within the power section displayed as a decimal number with one place precision displayed For example, 5.4 denotes five full helix turns plus four tenths of a turn at the discharge end of the power section. The simple form displays without the decimal (e.g. 54) Lobe/Stages in simple form is displayed as first digit of the lobe ratio followed by the stages as two digits without the decimal (e.g. 5/6 lobe with 5.4 stages is denoted 554). The expanded format may use this same denotation. Type/Elastomer -The type of power section is either a conventional or an even-wall stator. In the expanded formate, the type should be followed by a designation of the type of elastomer. Examples of current elastomer denotations are NBR, HSN, HBR, or abbreviated commercial designations (e.g. HB-88). Type/Angle -The types of lower housing straight, fixed bend, and adjustable bend. The type is followed by the angle which a fixed or adjustable housing were set. If the housing was straight, no angle designation is to be used in either format. In the simple format, an abbreviation of F denotes fixed (followed by an angle without the decimal if fixed bent housing). In the expanded version, abbreviations of STR, FBH, and ABH will be used for straight housing, fixed bend housing, and adjustable bend housing. The angle is listed as a three-digit number with two place precision (e.g. 1.83) Bearing - Bearing designates the general form of thrust bearing used: open (or mud lubed) and sealed (oil bath). Open and sealed are abbreviated O (or ML) and S. Stabilization -Stabilization is only that type of stabilization on the body of the motor. A top stabilizer is considered part of the drill string and will be designated in the BHA section of daily reports. In the simple format, stabilization is either present (STB) or not (NO). Stab OD -This is the maximum OD of conventional stabilizers and the effective standoff height of a kick pad. The effective standoff height of a kick pad is measured as the thickness of the lobe or pad from the nominal OD of the motor. Occasions exist where the OD of the lower housing may be smaller than the nominal OD of the motor. The thickness should be based on the nominal diameter specified for the motor, not the OD of the lower housing unit. The stabilization OD will be specified with three place precision behind the decimal for US Customary units (e.g. 6is 6.125, 12¼ is 12.250). Stabilization OD will be specified to single place precision behind the decimal for SI based units (e.g. 155.6 mm, 311.2 mm). Nominal Body OD Outside diameter of the largest body portion of the motor assembly. Normally the nominal body diameter is expected to be consistent over the length of the motor assembly, however, cases may exist where a larger lower housing unit is run on a slightly smaller power section due to bearing or torque requirements. The OD will be specified with three place precision behind the decimal for US Customary units (e.g. 6is 6.125, 12¼ is 12.250). OD will be specified to single place precision behind the decimal for SI based units (e.g. 155.6 mm, 311.2 mm). Type/Elastomer -The type of power section is either a standard or an even-wall stator. This should be followed by a designation of the type of elastomer. Examples of current elastomer denotations are NBR, HSN, HBR, or abbreviated commercial designations (e.g. HB-88). Rotor Material -The rotor material is the material at the surface of the rotor which works against the elastomer. Examples of rotor materials are steel (S), chrome (C), and tungsten carbide (T) Lower Housing - In the expanded format, the lower housing consists of the external housing, the transmission device, and the bearing assembly. Stabilization is covered separately. Transmission -The transmission designates the general type of drive shaft assembly. Designations include articulated (includes knuckle, constant velocity, and other forms of universal joints), torsion shaft, and combo (includes a torsion shaft in combination with any form of articulated joint). The designations will be denoted AR, TS, and C for articulated, torsion shaft, and combo. Type - Stabilization type refers to the general categories of stabilization fixed to the housing of the motor. These include: slick (no stabilization feature on the motor), kick pad (single blade or lobe on the lower housing), straight blade stabilizer, spiral blade stabilizer, and NorTrak stabilizer (spiraled and watermelon shaped axially). Abbreviations will be NO (slick), KP (kick pad), ST (straight blade), SP (spiral blade), and NT (NorTrak). EXAMPLES EXPANDED SIMPLE

only the first digit and the second is assumed to be plus one.
