Meghan Elizabeth Trainor[1] (born December 22, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. She started writing songs when she was 11 and began producing them on her computer 2 years later. At 18, Trainor signed a songwriting deal with Big Yellow Dog Music, penning tracks for Rascal Flatts and Disney star Sabrina Carpenter .

Trainor was born and raised in Nantucket, Massachusetts, the daughter of Kelli (Jekanowski) and Gary Trainor.[citation needed] She grew up with a musical family, and has been writing songs since she was 11 years old. She started a band with her family after a failed attempt with her cousin, Tori.
