OVERVIEW:This plan was developed in coordination with parents and staff at RVEC. The plan will be updated throughout the year as we receive data from various sources (testing, benchmark, and surveys from all stakeholders). The goals in this plan reflect the mission and vision of RVEC and the current data for RVEC.
PURPOSE:The purpose of the Roanoke Valley Early College School Improvement Plan is to provide a living framework to increase student achievement and teacher leadership. This framework will serve as the guiding principles for RVEC for the 2013-2014 school year. All decisions will revolve around the school improvement plan and process.
SHARED BELIEFS:
1. All children want to learn and have a right to a high-quality education that contributes to the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
2. Educators have the duty to create optimal conditions for student learning and value the opportunity to acquire the toolset, skillset and mindset needed to be successful 21st century educators.
3. The North Carolina Standard Course of Study establishes specific skills students should be able to perform successfully at the conclusion of each academic school year, and ultimately be college and career ready.
4. A sustainable partnership between schools, families, and the community ensures high rates of student attendance, maximizes student learning, and helps support a safe and orderly learning environment.
5. Investment in WCS staff, ongoing reflection about our work and workplace, commitment to growth, transparency, creativity, and meaningful discussions foster a dynamic, productive, and friendly workplace.
