SWOT Analysis
Strengths
Internal Factors :
• Management : The management board consist of rational thinkers who understand
the market well and cover all options before taking a decision. There is cooperation and
constant communication between the members which facilitates quick and correct
decision-making. All the members share the common ideals of having the zeal to win,
have fun, and develop leadership skills and teamwork skills, but at the same time keep
the workload manageable. Leaders are also enthusiastic to hone their skills in their
respective areas of specialization, be it finance, branding or advertising. Thus, all themembers have an overall understanding of marketing.
• Offerings: Keeping in mind the Mission of the company ‘To provide trust by delivering
excellent quality services, the products of F5 Technologies have been kept Innovative ,
high Quality, competitively priced .It provides a wide array of software keeping in
mind the target segments, such as Accounting and Book-keeping Software, Business
Graphics Software, Presentation software and Database software. The Globe-Trotter
model has a Rugged, Portable Design keeping in mind the Traveler segment, while the
Stallion model has a very high capacity hard drive keeping in mind the Work-horse
segment.
• Marketing: Brand Judgment for the Globe-Trotter is good compared to other competitors in the Traveler segment.

• Finance: Have huge reserves for future investment.
• R n D : Good R n D facilities with a good team
Weaknesses:
•
Management: Small in size leads to restricted opinions• Marketing : Even though efforts have been put for the marketing of the
brands, none of the brands have been successful in making a mark so far.
They have not been recommended by the Customer Union, which is a big
setback for the Company. The market reach in terms of number of sales office is low
.
• Finance: It is a big setback for the company as there is a crunch in
working capital as compared to the competitors.
External FactorsOpportunities:
• More territories for expanding the market can be explored in the future
such as the US and China
• Since the company has reserves for future investments segments such
as the Innovator and Mercedes can be explored further.
• Breakthrough RnD can be used as a means to achieve success
• The company can also bank on the Brand Judgment for the Globe-
Trotter model to make it a success. It has a distinctive name in the
Traveler segment.
Threats:
• Many low price competitors are available in market.
• Brand awareness and loyalty are on the weaker end as Brands are not
recommended by the Customer Union
• Competitors such as MnC
•
Another major threat is that the products are not patentable; competitors can attempt toduplicate the product.
Industry analysis: The PC industry is a technology driven along with value for money
driven industry. The five market segments i.e. Mercedes, innovators, work horse, cost cutters and
travelers are not just price differentiated segments but are also product differentiated. All
segments have there particular demands and usage of product along with the affordable price. In

this industry the product needs to not just at par with the requirements but above it. Mercedes
and innovators are more inclined towards product than price where as work horse, cost cutters
and travelers are more price sensitive than product feature or quality. Work horse forms the
largest of the entire segment and so there is a price war going among the competitors. This has
lead to an equal division among the competitors and has made this segment even more cluttered.
With the entry in the Mercedes segment every company is trying to pull out a huge chunk of the
segment because every one knows that though economies of scale can be achieved through other
segment, it is the Mercedes segment through which the profits can be made.
Competitors in the Market: There are 5 competitors in the market with Mouse and
Cheese being the major player in terms of Market Share and also generating a high demand for
its products in almost all segments. Other players include Boolean Inc,Avant-Garde
Technologies,XCell.Micro Comp ltd. And Tech World. If we see the market primarily all the
competitors have Cost Cutter and Work Horse as their target segment whereas the Traveler
segment is dominated by XCell. Microcomp. The following figures show the position of F5
Technologies with respect to the competition.

F5 Technology has had a poor showing as far as Market Share in its Initial segments of Work Horse and
Traveler are concerned.

As is evident from the above table,F5 Technologies has scored well as far as Price
Judgement in the Stallion model is concerned. It has done well on the 4 major segments
of Innovators, Mercedes, Work Horse and Traveler are concerned. The Globe-Trotter
model has done well on the Innovators, Mercedes and Traveler front.

Overall Brand Judgement is not satisfactory as compared to competitor brands but the Globe-
Trotter model in particular enjoys high Brand Judgement as compared to others. This is
demonstrated in the following table.

the list for Ad Judgments in the Innovator and Mercedes segments, while ‘Roamer’s Drive (for
Globe-Trotter) tops Ad Judgement in the Traveler segment. This is illustrated by the following
