When starting my college magazine on Photoshop the first thing I did was place my masthead onto the page. I did this by saving the masthead as a separate image then dragging onto the page, this made the image into a new layer. I played around with the size of the masthead and where it was to be placed on the page as it had to fit around the rest of the images and text.

The next step was to start adding the text- the regulars featured in the magazine. I used a font from Dafont where I typed ion my text and it came up in the font I had chosen. I took a print screen of the page and pasted onto Photoshop. I then roughly cut around the text using the magic want tool then clicked on select, colour range and removed all the white around the text to leave the black font. I used this method on all of my text on both this and the front cover.

Once all the text was on I changed the colour of the feature articles to make them stand out/emphasis them. After this I added the images that linked to the feature articles and the regulars.

Here is the finished contents page with artwork. For all the articles I used relevant, linking images. When adding these I copied and pasted the images from the internet which made them into separate layers.

Here I clicked on image, image rotation then flip canvas horizontal so the image changed round, as on the front cover of the magazine it looked better having the two people swapped round.

Here I started selecting the background and deleting it so I was the left with the artwork by itself. I didn’t want the original background as it didn’t look professional and wanted a white background.

This is the finished front cover of my college magazine! Once all the cover lines had been put on I copied and pasted a bar code from the internet to give the magazine a more authentic look. The cover lines were made into separate layers placed on top of the images. The cover line ‘Exam Stress ARGH!!!’ was placed in front of the lead image as a separate layer again. It didn’t stand out so I gave it a white background like torn paper to emphasis the text. One of the feature articles is placed across the top so its noticeable, the other features are in pink coloured text. The masthead was saved as an image so I dragged and dropped that onto the page as I did with the contents page.
