The EchoVault™ SLA EMS manages the complete SLA

lifecycle, from defining new services and SLA Key

Performance Indicators (KPIs), to provisioning the service,

automating performance assurance, then delivering real-time

reporting to existing B/OSS systems and customer portals.

With automated service provisioning, providers can quickly

configure EtherNID™ & MetroNID™ units to map Ethernet

Services, apply precise SLA bandwidth profiles, then further

assure QoS with traffic shaping, filtering and continuous

end-to-end service monitoring.

SLA-Meter™ and Traffic-Meter™ Spotlight visualization provides

the industry’s only second-by-second view into Ethernet service

performance with real-time KPI reporting. Combined with

hardware-based, microsecond-precise measurements from

EtherNID & MetroNID units, the EchoVault SLA EMS offers

unrivalled service monitoring detail and accuracy.

EchoCharts™ & EchoTables™ web-publishing engines extend this

visibility to client portals, building credibility and customer loyalty,

and forming a cornerstone for responsive service and support.

By managing the complete SLA lifecycle and related processes,

The EchoVault SLA EMS addresses service provider’s key

Product Overview

ACCEDIAN.com© 2008 Accedian Networks, Inc.

The EchoVault™ SLA Manager simplifies large-scale Ethernet

service provisioning by automating the creation of point-to-

point, hub-and-spoke and mesh topology virtual circuits

between EtherNID™ and MetroNID™ units deployed at

customer and cell sites.

The EchoVault SLA Manager allows providers to define and

manage a catalog of standard policies specifying MEF 10.1

service attributes, including committed and excess information

rates, burst characteristics, service class, and customer /

provider VLANs.

Provisioning a service is as simple as applying a predefined

service policy to selected EtherNID or MetroNID units - the

EchoVault SLA Manager’s topology-aware provisioning

algorithm automatically maps the service between all related

service endpoints.

To optimize performance, providers can also define traffic

conditioning policies to establish per-flow rate limiting,

intelligent filtering and Accedian Networks’ unique zero-

latency traffic shaping at the service endpoints.

Service attributes and subscribed sites are automatically

updated when policies are revised; integrated revision

tracking allows providers to roll-back to previous service

definitions as required, or to apply updated policies only to

selected sites.

After provisioning, the SLA Manager’s service assurance

automation capabilities can be used to conduct turn-up tests

for end-to-end service performance validation and baselining.

Service assurance policies can then be applied to establish

continuous SLA QoS and traffic monitoring, ensuring optimal

QoS and accurate per-site billing and troubleshooting data.

Product Overview

To provide real-time reporting and fault management, the

communication EchoAgent™ on EtherNID™ and MetroNID™

units pushes SLA KPIs and traffic statistics to local controllers

every second – sampling 300 times faster than typical SNMP-

based polling methods.

To reduce telemetry bandwidth usage and delays to negligible

levels, the EchoAgent applies propriety data compression to

data before transmission. Optionally redundant, local

controllers provide scalability, load-balancing and geographic

diversity to ensure resilient data collection. Local controllers

forward monitoring data to the EchoVault server,

which processes and stores KPIs and usage statistics for all

SLAs and service end-points in the network. SLA QoS alarm

forwarding sends SNMP traps to fault management systems

in real-time as performance degrades – hundreds of times

faster than other systems that typically collect data from test

probes every 15 minutes.

The EchoTables™ & EchoCharts™ data publishing engines

provide real-time visualization of SLA-Meter™ and Traffic-

Meter™ reporting Spotlights via the SLA Manager web-

interface, and are easily configured to publish dynamic charts

and tables to web-based customer portals.

In addition to advanced SLA automation and reporting, the

EchoVault™ EMS offers FCAPS (Fault, Configuration,

Accounting, Performance and Security) element management

functionality for EtherNID™ and MetroNID™ units.

Functionality includes automated unit provisioning, security

configuration, real-time status monitoring, batch firmware

updates and real-time alarm processing.

With the EchoAgent enabled, demarcation units maintain

constant communication with local controllers and the

EchoVault server, providing real-time activity logging and

unit diagnostics information through the EchoVault EMS’

web-based interface. To assure KPI measurement

accuracy, the EMS also tracks critical device processing

parameters including clock synchronization status.

EchoVault SLA EMSTM

User-defined thresholds and severity levels can be set for a wide variety of device status messages, providing real-time

alarm notification to operations personnel and fault management systems when intervention is required.

B/OSS Integration

Accedian Networks’ understands that

Ethernet Services and related SLAs are

only a part of a complete communications

portfolio service providers offer their

clients. With this in mind, the

EchoVault™ SLA EMS was designed

from the ground-up to integrate with

existing business, operations, support,

billing & reporting systems.

Secure, open interfaces allow SLAs to be

defined, provisioned, assured, analyzed,

reported and managed by existing

systems. The EchoVault server accepts

west-side order handling, service

definition and assurance requests from

existing provisioning and monitoring

systems, performs the requested actions,

then provides SLA KPIs, performance

reports, traffic / billing statistics and data

access via east-side XLM and Oracle-

client interfaces.

The EchoVault SLA EMS is fully

interoperable with popular management

and analysis platforms, including HP

OpenView, MicroMUSE / Netcool,

COGNOS, Granite Systems, Business

Objects, Concord and EMC/smarts.

The EchoVault Server ensures rapid,

real-time results retrieval by pre-

processing KPIs in its highly scalable

data analysis and storage architecture.

The server also facilitates customer-

portal and business-centric web-based

reporting with its dynamic EchoTable™

and EchoChart™ web-publishing &

hosting engines.EchoVault server features plug-ins for all popular B / OSS, NMS,

data analysis and open-source reporting platforms
