Glamox C95 – One family, unlimited options

The first products in the Glamox C95 family were launched in 2016. In only a short time they became some of our most popular products. We’re not surprised, the discreet design, slim profile and fully illuminated surfaces make these products easy to like. By keeping the design uncomplicated, with a subtle groove as the only décor, our designers have made a product that is suitable for a wide range of applications.

The first C95 products we introduced were recessed and surface mounted luminaires. Later we followed up with wall mounted luminaires in two different sizes and in 2019 we launched Glamox C95 Circle for pendent, recessed and surface mounting. All products are based on edge lit technology, which allows for a slim profile without hotspots.

By combining different shapes, colours, sizes, mounting options and optics you get a full spectre of products to play with. In fact, the family comprises more than 1000 different product versions! Get an overview of the different product versions on page 20–21.

Form follows function

This is an important motto for the designers working with the C95 luminaire. It simply means that they started the design process by considering what functional properties they wanted the luminaire to have.

Our designers knew that they wanted a slim profile to make the luminaires easy to recess in rooms with limited ceiling void. It is also a good feature for a surface mounted luminaire since it steals very little ceiling height. Another desired property was a fully illuminated surface without any hotspots. This combination called for so called “edge-lit technology”, which means that the LEDs are placed around the edges of the luminaire rather than in the top.

The use of materials, diecast aluminium with structural grey or white paint, complements the enduring design. To ensure low glare for work areas, the luminaires are available with microprismatic optics while the opal optics can be used to achieve a soft, diffused light.

Hans Bleken Rud is a Norwegian industrial designer. He graduated with a master’s degree in industrial design from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. During recent years his career has been focused towards various projects related to lighting and lighting design, but he has also designed products for the sports, aid and aerospace industry. He has worked as designer for Glamox since 2007.

Simple, stark shapes

– When working with products in the Glamox C95-series, I wanted to make sure that they had the same visual expression as the square and rectangular products in the family. The C95 products are characterized by a slender profile and fully illuminated surfaces. I’ve tried to keep the simple, stark shapes. I’ve also kept the milled groove that creates a little shadow around the frame of the luminaire

in order to add a little character to the product. For the pendent we’ve made a version that emits a

small portion of uplight. This light creates a decorative reflection in the ceiling.

Glamox C95 Circle is the last development in the C95 family. By adding a series of circular luminaires for pendent, recessed and surface mounting, we want to give you even more to play with in terms of decorative products. This luminaire is ideal for applications like receptions, social areas, meeting rooms and stairwells.

scheme by combining the different sizes? For the pendent luminaire it’s also interesting to combine different suspension heights. Or maybe you want to add some decorative indirect light to adorn the ceiling?

The products are available with two different types of optics, opal and microprismatic. While opal optics produces a soft light, microprismatic optics is ideal when you want high quality lighting for work stations while complying to glare requirements.

One family, complete projectsLike the other members of the family, C95 Circle is an edge lit luminaire with a very slim profile, measuring only 25mm. The design has a clean and discrete expression. The rest of the family comprises square and rectangular products of different dimensions and with several different mounting options. By combining the C95 Circle with the other C95 products you can easily use the same product family throughout a big office or school project without running out of options.

Lighting for better human performance and wellbeingGlamox C95 Circle can also be supplied with tuneable white technology which means that it can be used in a Human Centric Lighting solution. Read more about Human Centric Lighting on page 24–25.

Glamox C95-PThe pendent luminaire is available in a square (600x600 mm) and two different rectangular versions (240x1200 mm and 2400x1500 mm). They are characterized by a clean, discreet design and surfaces that are fully and uniformly illuminated.

If you’re looking for an attractive pendent luminaire that can be used both as a decorative product for applications such as social areas and meeting rooms and as workstation lighting, C95-P fits the bill.

UplightFor a luminaire to be used as workstation lighting it’s important that it meets the glare requirements. Glamox C95-P can be supplied with 40 percent uplight and microprismatic optics which will create ample workstation lighting with low glare. The reflections and shadows in the ceiling created by uplight can also be used as a decorative feature.

Versatile productsBy combining C95-P with the surface, recessed and wall mounted luminaires, you can create interesting lighting schemes, utilizing the benefit of a large product family. The diversity and flexibility of the C95 products make them suitable for a wide range of applications such as modern offices, schools and health care facilities.

Glamox C95-WThis is is a square, wall mounted luminaire. The design is kept clean and discreet with the same slim profile that characterises the rest of C95 family. The design makes it easy to integrate Glamox C95-W into different applications like entrance halls, stairways, corridors and social areas.

C95-W is available in two different sizes, 300x300 mm and 450x450 mm. By combining the different sizes, it is easy to create a decorative lighting scheme. Another option is to combine C95-W with other products from the C95 family. This allows you to play around with different scales and geometrical shapes to create a unique layout. The diversity and flexibility of the C95 products make them suitable for a wide range of applications such as modern offices, schools and health care facilities.

Fully illuminated surfacesThe slim silhouette and the subtle milled groove around the frame make C95-W a decorative element as well as a light source, almost resembling a picture frame on the wall. In order to get the slender frame, the products in the C95 family are all edge lit, which also allows for fully illuminated surfaces without hotspots. When mounted there are no visible screws to interfere with the clean lines.

Easy mountingGlamox C95-W is designed for surface wall mounting. Surface ceiling mounting is also possible. It is easy to install the mounting plate onto the junction box, then click and lock the luminaire into place.

Glamox C95-RThis is a recessed luminaire available in asquare (600x600 mm) and three differentrectangular versions (300x600 mm, 300x1200 mm and 600x1200 mm). The products are characterized by a clean, discreet design and surfaces that are fully and uniformly illuminated.

The slim, edge-lit profile makes these products ideal for rooms where the ceiling void is limited. C95-R is well suited for all 15 and 24mm T-bar ceilings. The narrow frame is designed to be hidden behind the t-bars, leaving only the surface of the luminaire visible. The luminaire can also be used in plasterboard ceilings. A separate frame is available for this purpose.

Glamox C95-SThis is a surface mounted luminaire available in a square (600x600 mm) and two different rectangular versions (240x1200 mm and 240x1500 mm). The products are characterized by a clean, discreet design and surfaces that are fully and uniformly illuminated.

The edge-lit technology allows for a slim profile of the luminaire itself. The driver is placed on top of the body, making a small gap between the luminaire and the ceiling that creates an illusion that the luminaire is

floating in the air. When mounted C95-S will protrude only 52 mm below the ceiling, stealing only a minimum of ceiling heights.

The diversity and flexibility of the C95 products make them suitable for a wide range of applications such as modern offices, schools and healthcare facilities.

Halo effectC95-S can be provided with opal optics for a soft, diffused light, or with microprismatic optics for areas where you need low glare. The luminaire is also available with 5 percent decorative indirect light, creating a halo-effect in the ceiling.

Save money with light management

In most buildings it's possible to reduce energy consumption and save money by investing in a light management system. All products in the C95 family can be used as a part of a light management system from Glamox.

Several products in the family are available with integrated sensors. For the products that aren't, it is possible to use external sensors. By using sensors, you can control the light based on presence and inlet of daylight. Our sensors and luminaires can also be used as a part of more extensive light management systems with value adding services.

Emergency lighting solutions for improved safetyAll products in the C95 family can be supplied with integrated emergency lighting systems (Standard, Selftest or DALI addressable), 1 or 3 hours. With a DALI addressable system, the emergency lighting and its batteries can be monitored through a Central Monitoring System that generates automatic reports.

Human Centric Lighting for improved human performance

Human Centric Lighting is a solution where artificial lighting is used to mimic the qualities of daylight in order to enhance human performance, well-being and sleep.

Biological research has shown us that light with high intensity and high content of blue wavelengths stimulates the body and makes us more alert and focused. If we are exposed to this cool blue light at the right time and duration, it can also affect our sleep in a positive way. To achieve this circadian effect, it’s also important to change to a warmer light with lower intensity towards the end of the day.

Our Human Centric Lighting solutions are based upon two main components: The first component is, a light management system that adjusts the colour temperature and the intensity of the light according to a predefined cycle. The second component is luminaires with technology that allows for adjusting the colour temperature (Tuneable white and RGB). Glamox has supplied Human Centric Lighting to more than 50 different European projects. We offer solutions that are applicable to schools, offices, healthcare institutions, industry and more. In the Glamox C95 family several products have tuneable white versions available.

Glamox will also offer C95 products with blue-blocking light. This technology is used to produce light without blue wavelengths. Researchers and doctors are now using blue-blocking as a part of the treatment of psychiatric patients to reduce symptoms like sleep problems and manic episodes.
