Slip Knot

There are two ways to have a slip knot slide. One way is for the slip knot to slide on the tail. This means that the tail gets bigger or smaller when the slip knot loop changes size. With theother way, the tail does not change size when the slip knot loop changes size.

To create a Slip Knot:

1. Make a circle near the end of theyarn. Make sure that informing the circle the partof the yarn you want theslip knot to slide on isplaced on top.

(Example 1)

This slip knot will slide on thetail portion of the netting becausethe end of the cord is placed overthe cord coming from the nettingshuttle.

(Example 2)

This slip knot will slide on the yarncoming from the netting shuttle.

2. Continue by placing the part of the yarn you wantthe slip knot to slide on under the circle.

(Here is the same step with hands in place.)

Because the tail or end of the cord is under the circle, the slipknot will slide on the tail.

3. Put your index finger and thumb downthrough the center of the circle formedand grab hold of the yarn that is acrossthe center of the circle.

4. Pull the yarn that is now between your thumb and index fingerup through the circle.

Be sure to hold on to the ends so that they won't get pulledthrough the circle.

5. Gently pull on the yarn so the circle (slip knot loop) becomessmaller and the knot gets tighter.

6. Check to see if the knot slides on the yarn you wanted it to slideon.

If the slip knot loop gets too small, gently hold the knot and pull on theloop.

To Untie a Slip Knot

Keep pulling on the yarn the knot slides on. The slip knot loop will keep getting smaller until theknot unties.
