How will these goals be achieved?
The Smart Community Center will offer a set of project activities:
• Educational and development program for orphans and vulnerable children, along with basic health services and meals prepared from food grown on a demonstration farm
• Vocational training and general education for young adults, namely informatics courses and tutorials on agricultural skills, which improve teenagers income-generating capabilities and their changes of succeeding national examinations
• Agriculture development and capacity building programs for farmers, with trainings on technological developments aimed at enhancing productivity and trading capabilities
• Microenterprise development programs for women designed at empowering women through literacy tutorials, the development of entrepreneurial capacities and basic business skills
Who launched the Smart Community Center initiative?
The Community Support Group (CSG), a Kenyan NGO established in 2011, in the Kibera slums of Nairobi, which aims at promoting sustainable development by pooling resources within the community.

What are the goals and objectives of the Smart Community Center?
Promoting sustainable rural development in Ugenya by:
• Increasing access to early childhood development programs for orphans and vulnerable children living in the rural communities
• Enhancing the income-
generating skills of teenagers and young adults while producing revenues for the center
• Helping connect poor
and vulnerable women with the resources needed to launch successful microenterprises
• Establishing a
demonstration farm to help teenagers develop agricultural skills while growing food for the center
• Improving the
livelihoods of farmers through agricultural programs through the use of technology to improve yields and enhance trading capabilities
