MELC CAR PARK – ONE WAY DROP OFF AREA
Latrobe Shire traffic engineers have been investigating traffic and pedestrian safety concern at
the MELC car park. They have observed and raised concerns in relation to:
Congestion due to people in cars stopping to chat during pick up and drop off times.
Congestions as cars are coming into the drop off zone from both directions.
Cars reversing out in both directions.
Potential of children running out into the busy car park and roadway.
High level of pedestrian activity.
In order to address these issues, Latrobe Shire are going to trial changes to the
current road conditions. The changes will involve changing the pick up/drop off
section of the road to a one way section. The parking spaces will also be changed
to angle parking.
The trial will begin in March. This will be for a 6 month period.
If you would like to view a map of the changes, they are on the notice board opposite the
office and on the notice board opposite the student toilets.
Fowler Street and South Street Intersection
The Latrobe City will begin works shortly of the construction of a roundabout at the
Fowler St and Vale St intersection.
Unfortunately this will result in the flagged pedestrian crossing at this intersection to
be closed. Children will be encouraged to use the crossing further up the road closer
to South St.
For parents and staff that use Fowler St to access South St, there will be detours put
in place during the works.
Further information will be forwarded via the Skool Bag App when we have been no-
tified.
Closure Day 17th March 2017
On Friday 17th March we will be having a whole
school closure day where the staff will be off site to
attend a Professional learning day on Understanding
Poverty.

Get to Know You Interviews
Thank you to all parents who came to check in with their child/ren’s class teacher on Tuesday and Wednesday
afternoons this week. From teachers’ perspective, this was a great opportunity to meet parents, to learn a little
more about your family and their child and to set some goals for the year. Teachers found this early-in-the year
informal chat, a great way to start building a relationship with you, which is so vital to children’s happiness and
wellbeing at school.
Contacting Teachers
As a school we encourage regular parent contact with teachers so that you have a good understanding of how
your child/ren are going and so that teachers are up to date with anything that they should be aware of. The best
way to contact teachers is by dropping into the classroom before or after school, by phoning the office (5127
1512) and leaving a message for the teacher to call back, using the Skoolbag app or emailing the school account
([email protected]). We kindly ask that you refrain from contacting teachers via social media or
private phone numbers.
