TIPS & TECHNIQUES Unless otherwise indicated use the brush best suited to the area being painted.

Drybrushing: Use the Highlighter set suited for the area you are working with. Load the bristles with paint, rub on a paper towel to remove as much paint as possible until almost dry. Apply light pressure. (This is also a good way to test the shading before applying to the surface.) Repeat this step, if needed.

Float/Shade: Dampen the area you are working in with DecoArt Americana Drying Time Extender in-stead of water for fl oating and highlighting. This step will allow a longer play time. Try to avoid puddles. Use the mop brush to remove water lines and to soften the fl oating and highlighting.

Line: All details are painted with the size 10/0 Liner. using the liner, use inky-consistency paint. Roll the tip on the palette to thin the tip for fi ner lines. I also use this brush to get into the tight areas when basecoat-ing.

PREPARATION:Please follow all manufacturers’ label instructions for proper product usage. Use the tack cloth to remove and dust particles.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:SNOWMAN

FACE AND BODYUse the fi lbert brush to basecoat the face and body Snow White and the nose with Persimmon. Apply several coats for full coverage. Let completely dry. Float under hat area along the forehead and along the coat edge with Payne’s Grey. Drybrush the cheeks with Alizarin Crimson. Dot the eyes and outline the lips with Lamp Black. Let dry. Dot the eyes and cheeks with Snow White.

CANDY CANE AND HOLLIESOutline the stripes for candy cane. Basecoat the stripes using the no. 4 fi lbert brush. Let dry. Float along top and bottom of candy with Payne’s Grey. Float a highlight along the center with Snow White. Using the end of the brush handle, dot the center of the round candy with Snow White. Float the wrapper with Payne’s Grey.

Basecoat the hollies with Festive Green. Let dry. Dry-brush the center with Snow White. Let dry. Float along the edges with Evergreen. Outline the veins and the outer edge with the same colour. Dot the berries with Alizarin Crimson and Snow White.

HAT AND COATBasecoat hat and coat with Desert Turquoise, the cuff s and brim with Driftwood, hat banner with Antique Gold and hollies Festive Green. Basecoat the berries with Alizarin Crimson. Let completely dry. Float along the shadowed areas along the hat and coat with True Blue. Drybrush a highlight on the front of the hat, the coat and the sleeves, cuff s and brim with Snow White. Float under scarf, the bag strap and cuff s edge with Plum Suede. Basecoat the front brim with Plum Suede.

SCARF AND MITTENSBasecoat the scarf and mittens with Antique Gold. Let dry. Basecoat the stripes Alizarin Crimson. Let dry. Float along the cuff of right hand and along the bell of left hand with Raw Sienna. Float along the center and the creases of the scarf with Raw Sienna. Let dry. Dry-brush a highlight at the center of the mittens, along the top edge of scarf and the sides of hanging scarf.

BELLBasecoat the bell with Slate Grey, the handle and the ball inside bell with Plum Suede. Let dry. Float along the mitten and inside along the ball with Neutral Grey. Drybrush a highlight at the center and along the top of bell with Snow White.

SATCHELBasecoat the satchel with Uniform Blue. Let dry. Float under the bottom lip with Payne’s Grey. Let dry. Dry-brush a highlight on the front strap, the front of satchel and along the bottom right side with Snow White.

FINISHINGApply one to two coats of Matte Varnish. Let dry. Us-ing the palette knife; apply Snow-Tex to the areas by referring to the photo. This step is optional. While wet, sprinkle glamour dust over snow.
