    How Solar Works

    1

    2

    3

    4

Solar Modules (1) turn photons from the sun into DC Electricity.

The Inverters (2) turn DC (Direct Current) into AC (Alternating Current)

and send it to the Electrical Panel (3) where it can be used throughout

    the facility.

Electricity can be obtained from (if more is needed) or fed to (if excessis being generated from panels) the Utility Grid (4).

    Watts, Kilowatts, and Megawatts

Solar Energy (and electricity in general) ismeasured in kilowatt-hours.

1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) = the amount ofelectricity required to burn a 100 wattlight bulb for 10 hours.

The average U.S. home uses 936 kilowatt

hours per month according to the U.S.Department of Energy.

    Ohios Requirement

By the year 2025 at least 25% of electricity sold in the statemust be generated by alternative sources.

Half (12.5%) of these alternative sources must be renewable.

.5% (one half of a percent) must come from Solar.

Utility companies face penalty payments if theserequirements are not met annually.

Penalty payments for utilities to comply with OhiosRenewable Portfolio Standard will continue to decrease

every two years. It is currently $400 per MWh for 2010.

Therefore RECs can be brokered to create and additionalrevenue stream and or offset the payback period for financial

    investors.

    Generator (i.e. solar

    PV)

    1 MWh of

    Electricity

    1 Renewable

    Energy Credit

Electricity created from Solar PV creates both electricity and RECs

For every Mega-watt of electricity, one REC is created.

RECs can be used to meet state RPS (Renewable Portfolio),

    AEPS (Alternative Energy Portfolio) Standards.
