The John W. Paylor, Jr. Planned Giving Society was started by and now continues in memory of John W. Paylor, Jr., who, along with his family, made the inaugural planned gift to Southfield School. Planned giving is a way for donors to make gifts to the school at a time that works best for them. The support of Southfield families, alumni and friends enables the faculty and staff to build on the school’s mission to develop a lifelong love of learning. That passion can be seen in the school’s many successes of 2011-12: from the school’s prestigious accreditations, including the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest, to student honors in mathematics, foreign languages, social studies and more.

Southfield School is committed to the development of well-rounded students who thrive not only on academic challenges but also on an appreciation of the arts. In 2011-12, our students excelled in art competitions as well as academics, receiving recognition for artwork and poetry. Athletics at Southfield also had a noteworthy year, with recognitions for our cheer squad and our boys’ basketball teams — the 7th grade team took home the championship title and our 5th and 8th grade teams placed as runners-up in their divisions.

All of these honors are made possible by your support. Southfield School appreciates the generosity of each supporter.

The Annual Fund is one of Southfield School’s most important fundraising efforts each year.

Giving to Annual Fund enriches the daily operations of the school, enables us to meet unusual needs, and ensures we can maintain and improve the campus. These contributions help fill gaps in our budget and cover expenses not supported through tuition revenues, providing for long-term financial stability.

These gifts provide tools, from software to textbooks, that enrich the classroom experience for our students. This support also offers maintenance to campus facilities, ensuring the education environment is both safe and welcoming for our students and their families.

The 2011-12 Parents’ Association contributions helped Southfield School look to the future, planning not just for current students but for generations to come. By covering unexpected, unique capital expenses throughout the year, this investment provided support in attaining our prestigious accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children as well as assessments of our technology and campus as we move forward.

Parents play a key role in the success of the school. Through support that includes volunteering time and talents, participation in the Parents’ Association builds on our close-knit community of teachers, parents and students. We thank our parents for their commitment to the continued success of Southfield School.

Bootleg ‘n’ Boogie, the 14th Annual Auctions & Alibis Parents’ Association fundraiser, was a huge success,
