This is a bid/proposal to hold the 2013 National Specialty in Phoenix,
Arizona. The submitting group is the Southwest Cardigan Fancier
(SWCCF).

The Confirmation, Obedience and Rally will be held inside at the host
hotel. Herding will be located at Double M Stock dogs, and Agility will
be located at Deer Valley Community Center Park.
The host hotel has prepared a comprehensive bid that allows for
flexibility and affordability. All functional space will be provided at no
cost to the Club as long as we meet $14,000 in food and beverage
costs tax and gratuity. This cost will be offset by the sell of banquet
and luncheons.

Biography’s:
Renay Crooker
Renay began showing Siberians in 1978. Her involvement in Cardigan
Welsh Corgi’s began in the 1990’s while she helped show a friends
Cardigans. In 2003 she received her first Cardigan that went on to be their
first Cardigan Champion. She is currently Corresponding Secretary for the
Superstition Kennel Club and Siberian Husky Club of Greater Phoenix. She
has been involved in the coordination of the SHCGP local area specialty
since 1983 and has been involved in various aspects of the Siberian
National Specialty over the years.
Karen Wilson
Karen began showing Siberians in 1971 and acquired her first Cardigan
Welsh Corgi in 1992. Karen was assistant show chairman for the 1986
Siberian Husky Club of America National Specialty and has served as Raffle
chairman and auction facilitator at numerous Siberian National Specialties.
She has also been involved in Siberian Husky Club of Greater Phoenix as
President, Secretary and Show Chairman. She is currently Show
Chairman for Superstition Kennel Club whose Fiesta Cluster attracts an
entry of 2500.

The hotel has also agreed to provide the following for the event:
1. Hospitality room/suite will be provided at no additional cost. Food can be brought in to the hospitality room and does not need to be provided by the host hotel.
2. There is NO limit to the number of dogs per room
3. $25.00 pet deposit that will be refundable upon room inspection at checkout.
4. RV parking will be provided at a cost of $25.00 per vehicle.
5. Grooming space, including a outdoor bathing area will be provided.

• The Grand Ballroom is 90 x 60 with 5,400 square feet of functional
space. This space would be utilized for Obedience and
conformation.
• We are proposing a ring size of 60 x 40. this would leave 10 feet on
each side of the ring with 20 feet at one end for ready ring, Trophies,
Ribbon Table.
• Photo’s could be taken either in the Grand Ballroom or in the foyer
area out side the ballroom.
• The host hotel is currently in the process of building another
functional space. This space is currently 80 x 80 but based on the
plans may actually provide a larger space than currently provided.
• This building will feature a retractable roof so that in good weather it
could be opened. This area could be used for rings rather than the
Grand Ballroom, grooming, overflow, or additional meeting space
• A bathing area will be available in the large grass area out side the
meeting area. This area could also be possibly used for obedience
if desired.
Potential Sponsors
In addition to offsetting the hotel food and beverage costs from the
sale of banquet and lunches, we have several local companies that
have in the past provided sponsorships to local show. We propose
that if the Phoenix bid is selected that we can leverage these
companies for additional cost savings.

Other Shows within 250 miles
The Turquoise Cluster usually hold it shows the first full weekend
of April. There is a possibility to holding a supported show the
Sunday following the Close of the 2013 National.
The Alternative is to move the date for the National either forward
or back by one week and leverage the 4 additional shows.
At this time 2013 schedule for the Turquoise shows has not been
finalized.

Airport Information
Event participants will arrive and Sky Harbor International Airport located 16 miles
from the host hotel. The hotel does not provide transportation to or from the airport.
However they do provide transportation from the Metro Light Rail which does allow
pets in carriers. There are several shuttle services that currently provide
transportation to and from the airport.
Directions:
Vendor’s
Vendor’s will have plenty of space just out side the Grand Ballroom in the pre-
functional space. Tables, skirting and chairs will be provided by the host hotel.
Pricing for vendor space will be determined by CWCCA.
RV Parking
The host hotel will provide RV Parking at a fee of $25.00 per day. A room reservation is
not required. No hook ups will be available. Provisions will be made to provide water
and waste removal at a cost to be determined.
Alternative RV Camp Ground
As an alternative to RV Parking on grounds for those that would like full hook ups can
be investigated. Desert Sands RV Park is less than 5 miles from the host hotel, and pet
friendly.
Local Area Attractions
Mystery Castle
Constructed during the 1930s and
"40s, this 18-room castle was built
by Boyce Luther Gulley after he
was diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Abandoning his family in Seattle,
he came to Phoenix for the
climate and built the folk-art
mansion from recycled materials
and old bricks in honor of his
young daughter.
Pueblo Grande Museum and
Archaeological Park
Pueblo Grande Museum and
Archaeological Park is US"s only
city-operated archaeological site.
The museum explores and
interprets the pre-Columbian
Hohokam civilization. It also has
information about the ancient
inhabitants of the Phoenix area.
South Mountain Park
South Mountain Park is one of the
largest municipal parks in the
world. It is a maze of well-
maintained crisscross hiking trails.
One can gaze at the city from
1200 feet. The Happy Valley is
magnificent, especially in
springtime when the terrain is
knee-deep with wildflowers.
The Phoenix Zoo
The Phoenix Zoo, opened in 1962,
operates on 125 acres of land in
the Papago Park area of Phoenix.
The zoo has approximately 1,200
animals on display, 2.5 miles of
walking trails and other
attractions. The Phoenix Zoo is
made up of four major themed
areas, or "trails", where visitors
can experience exhibits
representing different areas of the
world and their native wildlife. The
Arizona Trail, the Africa Trail, the
Tropics Trail, and the
Discovery/Children"s Trail.
Heard Museum
The Heard Museum of Native
Cultures and Art"s mission is to
educate the public about the
heritage and the living cultures
and arts of Native peoples, with
emphasis on the peoples of the
Southwest. It is a living museum
featuring both artifacts and
contemporary art of Native
cultures. The main Phoenix
location of the Heard Museum has
been designated as a Phoenix
Point of Pride. Paintings,
drawings, domestic objects,
textiles, pottery, dolls, jewelry and
sculpture, figure in the collection.
The museum also has an amazing
collection of Hopi Kachina dolls.
Historic Heritage Square
Historic Heritage Square is a part
of Heritage & Science Park, which
also includes the Arizona Science
Center and the Phoenix Museum
of History. It contains several
Victorian homes from Phoenix"s
original settlement. The fully
restored 1895 Rosson House was
originally one of the most
prominent homes in town.
Deer Valley Rock Art Center
Indians from throughout the
Southwest carved more than 1500
petroglyphs, or rock etchings,
along an ancient trade route.
Between 500 and 5000 years old,
these pictographs have an
unknown meaning but may relate
to hunting, religion, astronomy, or
intertribal communication. They
are on a 47-acre site north of
Phoenix.
Wrigley Mansion
2501 E. Telewa Trail, . This
hilltop masterpiece, built by
chewing-gum magnate William
Wrigley Jr., shows just how good
life could be in the early 1900s.
Desert Botanial Garden
Located in Papago Park, this
garden features the world"s
largest outdoor desert plant
collection. A vast array of colorful
wildflowers has been strategically
placed to create a spectacular
display. An informative
ethnobotanical walking trail,
meanders through the grounds.
The trail explains the many vital
ways in which plants were
integrated into Native American
tribal life, thus illustrating the
importance of plants beyond their
natural beauty.
Dolly Steamboat Excursion
Canyon Lake, A paddle-wheel
steamboat takes visitors on a
leisurely tour between steep
canyon walls and cliffs covered
with saguaros. Look closely for
bighorn sheep, they inhabit the
area and make appearances from
time to time.
Goldfield Ghost Town
This genuine ghost town is a
remnant of an 1892 gold strike in
the Superstition Mountain attracts
visitors to period buildings, a
museum, railroad, steakhouse,
saloon and shops.

Gunfights, stuntmen, Main Street
and theater-style entertainment,

Agility Equipment Rental
A local Agility club Contact Zonie’s has agreed to rent us equipment.
Terms of agreement.
• Equipment will be rented for a total of $250.00
• Club needs to provide a means to transport equipment trailer to the site.
• The CWWCA would need to hire security for the site during the time that our equipment and trailers were
present. Whoever would be hauling the trailers would also need to provide proof of insurance to cover
our assets and listing us as an additional insured (which any insurance company should do at no
additional cost as long as the coverage is present)
Agility
The proposed agility site is Deer Valley Community Center/Park The park Is located 6.6 miles from the host
hotel. Ample room for parking and rings is present. In April the park will be seeded with winter rye grass
as is typical for parks in the South west. Current thinking is to have Obedience inside at the host hotel.
However this location has adequate room for both if desired.
There is no cost associated for the park usage.

miles north of Phoenix. Approximate driving time is 53 minutes.
