Introduction to Southwestern Manufacturing Inc.
From concept to creation, Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. is dedicated to approaching every
Fabricating project with the mindset that “we can do it best”. Regardless of the application,
complexity, or industry—the team at Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. will apply experience,
care, and ingenuity to create a final product that is characterized by quality and value.
We provide quality, on-time, cost effective machining solutions through all phases of fabrication
and manufacturing all under one roof. We control the process from start to finish!
Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. operates in a competitive global market producing wide
ranging metal based assemblies and components across a variety of industry sectors including
but not limited to Mining, Oil & Gas, Crane and Dragline Components, Agricultural, Machine
building, and Heavy Equipment Manufacturing.
Our customers expect quality and our ISO 9000/2001 and CWB accreditation is just the start.
They also expect value for money reflected in smart manufacturing choices and on time delivery.
At Southwestern Manufacturing Inc., we have the vision, the infrastructure and the skills that
allow us to create and develop value added solutions for our customers. Global sourcing and
outsourcing expertise offer original solutions to traditional methods and allow our customers the
benefit of cost effective solutions in an ever changing global marketplace.
Our customers are demanding and that suits us just fine! Over the years it is our customers who
have made us better through intensive off site training and an open communication line. They
want us to use our wide ranging expertise and propose innovative manufacturing and machining
solutions, for metal based assemblies and machining that would challenge a lesser organization.
Our extensive plant capacity, developed to cater for our multi million pound turnover, is spread
across two adjacent facilities manned by over 120 employees and incorporates shot blast, stress
relieving, fitting, welding, machining, non destructive testing, final paint, right on through to our
own logistics network, resulting in high value finished items across many diverse sectors
delivered right to your door.
This is a single source solution for the customer as opposed to using a range of other individual
supply chain members carrying out single activities.

Inspection/Quality
Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. takes pride in our work and quality assurance is first
and foremost. We can approach this with proven inspection/quality procedures:
- All fabrications are inspected in process at various stages. During each operation
the inspectors sign off the traveler and after all fab items are finished (eg. Fit,
weld, stress, prime) a final inspection and sign off are completed.
- All machining is 100% inspected using calibrated tools, CMM’s and a staff of
qualified machining inspectors who also give the fabrications a second look prior
to signing off.
- Parts that do not pass inspection are repaired and 100% re-inspected.
Custom Fabrication
Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. specializes in custom manufacturing from the smallest
of parts, ranging in 1-2 lbs to large bases, and bolster plates ranging from 40-50 thousand
pounds. We have the in house capabilities to produce parts of any shape or size, form
any type of material, be it Stainless Steel, Aluminum, or special steel such as T1, P2,
4140, etc. We have in-house design and processing capabilities. We are able to support
all types of CAD drawings sent to us by various customers. Southwestern Manufacturing
Inc. is familiar and well versed in the design and build of all types of manufactured parts
and equipment ranging from fixtures, bases, 80-foot diameter gears, brackets,
construction, agricultural, and mining equipment of all shapes and sizes.
Stress Relieving/Shot Blasting
After stress relieving and parts cool from the oven, they are typically rough and covered
with scale. To remove this scale, Southwestern Manufacturing has a large manual steel
shot blast room and a mid-sized wheelabrator. All parts from the oven are blasted before
priming.
Painting
After blasting parts require a coat of primer to protect the bare metal. Southwestern
Manufacturing Inc. has two large paint booths and complete priming or finish paint as
required by our customers
We also have an isocyanides program set up and have our painters regularly tested.
UT Testing & Mag-particle Inspection
As customer requirements began to get more involved, Southwestern Manufacturing Inc.
was required to purchase Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Mag-particle inspection.
To date, we have an on board employee with level 2 Mag-particle and completing level 1
UT. We employ an outside contractor who is certified for all levels of UT & Mag-
particle inspection. All inspection methods are certified and documented and available
per job requirements.
