FILE FORMATS Adobe Acrobat High Resolution PDF File Adobe InDesign CS2 or higher Adobe Photoshop

ADOBE ACROBAT HIGH RESOLUTION PDF FILE: Export/Saving to PDF from InDesign, Illustrator, Quark and Photoshop use ‘Press Quality’ settings for the generation of High Resolution PDFs.

ADOBE INDESIGN CS2 OR HIGHER: Include ALL fonts and images along with your ad submission (Packaging typically does this well.) To ensure fonts reproduce properly, it is recommended to ‘Select All’ text from the Edit Menu and ‘Create Outlines’ from the Type menu.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP: Flatten the Adobe Photoshop file and save as a .tif, .eps, or ‘Press Quality’.pdf (without any ICC Profiles embedded).

PLEASE NOTE: the Baltimore Fashion Week Souvenir Issue designer uses Adobe CS5. A flattened Adobe Photoshop file (without any ICC Profiles embedded) saved as .eps, .tif, or ‘Press Quality’.pdf are the best format to submit an ad. This format provides the most accurate reproduction quality.

FILE REQUIREMENTS

• Ads must be sized at actual size, 300 dpi • All images, graphics and colors must be CMYK (no ICC Profiles embedded) • All imported images and graphics are 300 dpi at 100% when placed to ensure highest quality when printed.

COLOR Make sure all colors in your color palette are converted

to process color

Rich Black. For areas of black that are larger than ¼ page please build black out of 60 CYAN, 40 MAGENTA, 30 YELLOW, 100 BLACK.

Color images must be converted to CMYK without any ICC Profiles embedded. When converting from RGB to CMYK, the SWOP profile that ships with Photoshop is the correct SMYK set-up to use.

BLEEDS and MARGINS (full Page ads)

All full page ads MUST INCLUDE .25” bleed beyond the trim on all four sides.

Two page spreads must be submitted as single pages with .25” bleed into the gutter.

Keep all live text/images a minimum of .375”, preferably .25” within trim size. This is necessary to avoid having text cut off when the magazine is trimmed.

PROOFS Please provide Baltimore Fashion Week with color proofs within 7 days of artwork submission. BFW requires that all advertisers provide a color laser proof (to paper) of all ads that will print in our upcoming printed issue. This is helpful to the advertiser, ad designer and Baltimore Fashion Week; it ensures content accuracy for font and image placement. This may be done by either your own color laser printer or through a local printing company. Baltimore Fashion Week is not responsible for content inaccuracies in the event that a proof is not supplied. *Please note that inkjet or color laser proofs are NOT accurate color representation for how the finished, printed product will appear, including, but not limited to, exact color matches, blends and screens, lightness and darkness of inks, etc. Baltimore Fashion Week is not responsible and has no

control over color variations in the finished product’s appearance due to the normal printing process and chosen paper stock. Please note Advertisers/Ad designers: the universal Pantone 4-Color Matching system is the most accurate when choosing colors for your ad design and presenting color selections to the Baltimore Fashion Week Advertiser. Color lasers proofs are NOT an accurate color representation for final print. Although we do our best to safeguard against printing errors, Baltimore Fashion Week is not responsible for errors that occur due to improperly formatted and submitted artwork. Additionally, there may be a fee of $70 for ads that need to be altered to conform to the CMYK standard.
