Why Spa for the Soul?

• We noticed a need to find a way to care for our staff

• Peaceful Moments was frequently requested but not consistently offered

• We had begun offering hand massages along with paraffin wax hand dips during Nurses/Hospital Week and staff responded positively

• Time away from the unit/workplace to be nurtured, rejuvenated and relax.

• A day spa-like experience for healthcare workers

• A healing environment inside the hospital

• Offered four times a year (February, May, August, and November)

• Day Staff -- 4 hours

• Night Staff -- 2 hours

• Managers make a commitment to provide staff time to come

• Spa for the Soul is held in the conference center at Lakeside Hospital

• Holding it on campus allows us to accomplish two things:• Maximize the number of attendees• Make the hospital a healing environment for

staff and volunteers

Who can attend Spa for the Soul?

• All Lakeside staff are invited to attend including hospital staff, clinic staff, and others affiliated with the hospital

• Volunteers are invited to attend

Creating the Team

• October 2008 initiated the Spa for the Soul Team which is part of our Employee Engagement Team

• The team organizes, coordinates, and hosts all SftS events

• 15 members from a variety of departments
