The best of both worlds. The Spark is a hatchback with five doors. Only you can’t see the rear doorhandles because they were designed into the style and flow of the car.
Open the hatchback and you’ll find the rear seat offers a 60/40 split with both sides folding down. A cargo cover keeps prying eyes from seeing into the cargo area. After all, cities are cities.
The seats were tuned to offer the ultimate in comfort and can come heated as well. So long road trips are not out of the question. And with ample head- and legroom, they are even more appealing.
Stylish interior
Details are everything in the Spark. From the many places to stow things to the refined lines and minimal gaps, everything about the interior speaks to the eye. Even the low-gloss materials appease. The ride, however, was designed for the ears. It whispers.

STRUCTUREThe Spark uses a Body Frame Integral Design. Along with 60% of the structure made of high-strength steel, energy is managed at every point of the car. Crumple zones and motor compartment rails in the front absorb energy. Strong tubular beams in all four doors help protect occupants in side impacts.
FUEL ECONOMY Spark sports a 1.0-liter engine. Estimated fuel efficiency for a combined city/highway is 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The engine uses an electronically controlled EGR valve to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Basically, the EGR valve recirculates exhaust gas back into the cylinders, generating pressure without generating heat. This keeps emissions low and fuel efficiency high. And a close-coupled catalytic converter greatly reduces emissions during cold starts – the time when emissions are highest.
Big on safetyEnergy absorption and energy dispersion are the primary ideas behind the structural enhancements of the Spark.

Protect your child by installing a child seat engineered to survive crash forces. Unlike your arms, it’s the safest method available for child protection in a car accident.
FIND THE RIGHT SEAT• Use an infant-only seat for infants up to 14 kg. Keep it rear-facing and semi-reclined. Be sure the harness comes from slots at or below the baby’s shoulders and is snug when buckled. • Use your convertible child seat in a forward-facing and upright position for toddlers and children between 14 and 30 kg. Be sure the harness straps are coming from above the child’s shoulders. • For children between 30 and 45 kg use a belt-positioning-booster seat. • Children over 46 kg must pass the safety-belt-fit criteria before wearing a normal car safety belt. • Knees should bend naturally at the edge of the seat. • The lap belt should sit low on the hips. • The shoulder part of the seatbelt should rest on the shoulder or collarbone. • The child should be able to maintain this position the length of your trip.
ALWAYS REMEMBER • Place all children under 13 in a back seat. • Never place a rear-facing child seat in front of an airbag. • Use a child seat for all children until they can safely wear the adult seatbelt. • Be sure you have one seatbelt for every person. • NEVER place the shoulder belt under the arm or behind the back. • Be sure all child seats are locked into the car using the LATCH system or the seatbelt.
