Synopsis

Flik is a little ant with grand ideas that always seem to go wrong and land him in trouble with his ant colony. No one believes in Flik’s dreams, especially Princess Anna and the Queen. But befriended by the littlest princess ant, Dot, Flik tries to design a bold plan to thwart the grasshopper villains who terrorize the colony and demand its winter supply of food.

Activities

• Watch the ants in your own backyard. What do you notice about them after watching A Bug’s Life?

• Are you full of ideas, just like Flik? Create an idea book for you to start writing these ideas down!

• The young ants draw a mural for the circus ants in appreciation of them because they believe the cirucs ants are there to save the colony. Draw a picture for someone who you appreciate. In the picture show the reason why you appreciate them.

• Research the real lives of ants and grasshoppers. How do they compare to what you saw on screen in A Bug’s Life?

• Buy an inexpensive ant farm and have your own little ant colony living in your bedroom! Make sure you have an adult help you set it up and help you with all the instructions on how to care for it.

Get Involved

The grasshoppers were the worst kinds of bullies to the ants. They needed the ants and took advantage of them by scaring and threatening them. Like the ants, kids are affected everyday by bullying and there are ways you can help!
