The Marching Knights had another great day on October 2 at the annual Barry Apple Festival. Rain threatened, but as the parade stepped off, the sun came out and the wind backed off a bit and the competition was on! A-C competed for a very large crowd on the downtown square of Barry as they performed the music of Cirque de Soliel titled Incantations. This music has an Egyptian flare and has been a challenge to the students to learn. The piece is unique from the standpoint that the band is required to sing as they move down the street also. It is definitely something different! The Marching Knights won their class, the drum major award, the percussion award and the color guard award as well as the Grand Champion trophy. It was a great performance by the group and hopefully a warm up to the 2 remaining competitions left this season: Oct 16 - Quincy Octoberfest Parade and Oct 30 - Pickneyville Mardi Gras Parade. Come out and support the Marching Knights and enjoy a little Illinois Fall color! The Scoop NEWSLETTER
