Message from our President

Benny Bell 2000-2001 LOUISIANA ACTE President Welcome to the 50th Annual Louisiana Association for Career and Technical Education Conference. I am certain that this Conference will have something to offer everyone in attendance. The theme of the conference is “A Golden Past…A Shining Future!” A time for us to celebrate both the Past and the Future of Vocational Education in Louisiana. My hope is that the information you learn this week will allow you to go back to your schools and meet the future that faces you with new understanding. If you leave this Conference with at least one great idea to implement in your classroom or school, you can say this Conference was a tremendous success. Please make sure that you visit the exhibits. Take time to explore all the opportunities that are available to you and your students through the conference. Thank the exhibitors for their attendance at this Conference. Your participation makes this Conference happen, so please get involved. Enjoy the city of Lafayette during your free time. It has much to offer you, spend some money to let them know we were here. I hope you enjoy the format of this Conference. It was planned by a group of hard working individuals who so generously gave up their time to Louisiana ACTE. Without Louisiana ACTE’s Executive Councils and the Executive Secretary’s untiring help and many hours of volunteer time, there is no way this Conference could be successful. The State Department of Education continues to support Louisiana ACTE by putting on Professional Development Workshops for this conference. Be sure to thank the members of the Louisiana ACTE Executive Council and the staff of the State Department of Education for their dedication to vocational education. I have enjoyed my year as Louisiana ACTE President. Thanks to the Agriscience Division for allowing me to run for and serve as Louisiana ACTE President. Vocational education is strong and viable and continues to play a very important role in the future of Louisiana. We as vocational educators need to work and face the continuing needs of career and technical education to work hard in preparing the workforce for the 21st Century. Please attend all sessions, visit the exhibits, attend the silent auction and dinner, network with your colleagues, and seize this moment. I hope you thoroughly enjoy the Conference.
