WE FOCUS ON YOUR GOALS!

C O U R S E O P T I O N S

QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL TEACHERSIt is no coincidence that we have been at the forefront of providing language opportunities for the last 28 years. We strongly believe that our teachers are our main asset. It goes without saying that all our teachers are quali ed professionals. They are all highly motivated and committed to providing the highest standard of language teaching. They strive to make lessons as interactive, interesting and inspiring as possible through the use of authentic materials to supplement core textbooks. All our teachers follow a course structure which takes into account the needs of the students. As well as teaching you the language, you are encouraged to learn about the di erent cultures of their peers. To this end, when your lesson has nished, you should have the required skills needed to continue your learning outside of the classroom.

PART-TIME COURSE(10 lessons / 7,5 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes)This course will provide you with some insight into the language and its cultural setting. 2 lessons daily will leave you with a lot of time to enjoy your vacation.

SEMI-INTENSIVE COURSE(20 lessons / 15 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes) This is the perfect compromise between learning the language and enjoying your free time. 4 lessons daily guarantee e ective learning, while the morning or afternoon remains free for extra-curricular activities. The minimum course duration is at least 2 weeks.

INTENSIVE COURSE(30 lessons / 22,5 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes) If you want to learn more intensively with the aim of gaining greater uency and accuracy more quickly then this course is your ideal option.

SUPER-INTENSIVE COURSE(40 lessons / 30 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes) This is the ideal course for students who really want to challenge themselves academically. Students take 8 lessons per day from Monday to Friday. This course is particularly recommended for any student, especially for those who wish to enter a university.

MINI GROUP COURSE(20 lessons / 15 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes) In our mini group courses, you work in smaller groups of up to 6 students, allowing more focus on your individual needs. This course allows you to work intensively during lessons, while still enjoying half a day of activities.

BUSINESS LANGUAGE COURSE(30 lessons / 22,5 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes)This course is ideal for students and professionals who need to use a foreign language for daily business correspondence. The course combines 6 lessons per day, 4 of which are the Semi-Inten-sive Course and 2 of which specialise in business topics. We cover a range of current and relevant work-related issues.

INDIVIDUAL COURSEOne-to-one language training is the quickest and most intensive way to learn a language or to improve your language skills. The format of the lessons is totally determined by your needs and desires. Obviously, the hours are exible, allowing you to book them together with another course option. You decide the number of daily lessons. All aspects of the language are taught in as short a time as possible without being overly demanding.

ACADEMIC TERM /EXAM PREPARATION(20 lessons / 15 hours or 30 lessons / 22,5 hours per week, 1 lesson = 45 minutes)For more information on academic terms and exam preparation please see page 8.

QUALITY ASSURANCEThe key to Sprachca e’s success is that no matter how much we grow as an organisation we never lose sight of the principles on which Sprachca e was founded. With schools located in some of the world’s top destinations and a dedicated international team, we are committed to providing the highest quality service.

Are you looking for short-term programmes or long-term studies? Is your study-abroad trip a combination of holidays and studies, or do you want to improve your language skills for professional reasons? With us you can choose from a perfect range of courses. We can also help you enrol for o -cial examina tions. Furthermore, if you decide to apply to a university in our host country, we are there to give you information and support. You can always approach our team for further information.

The study-abroad period and the language certi cates are a great quali cation for your resume, as periods spent away from your home country will indicate open- mindedness and intercultural awareness. A young person who spends time studying or working abroad will gain experience and learn new skills which will lead to increased con dence, maturity, and independence. For the maxi-mum number of students in a class, please refer to the relevant destination page.

Sprachca e Languages PLUSLearning with all your senses! Many people who would like to or “have to” learn a language believe, because of their

experiences at school, that learning and having fun are mutually exclusive. Some be lieve, in a sense, that you have to su er, otherwise you will not get the results

that you would like to achieve. They are reminded of what learning grammar and

vocabulary was like in the past. Even those experiences reinforce that learning

a language inevitably involves a degree of pain and e ort. Have your own experiences

of learning made you afraid of failure, afraid of the teacher, worried about making

mistakes or making a fool of yourself? At Sprachca e Languages PLUS you will experience a di erent way of learning.

You will have fun and achieve success without losing sight of your serious goals.

You will study in a relaxed way, one which is conducive to learning and communicating

without fear of making mistakes, literally like having a discussion in a “ca é linguis-

tico”. And this is where the name of the Sprachca e institute, which is a play on words,

comes in. ’Sprach’ implies language and communication and ’ca é’ refers to the atmosphere we aim to create in the classroom.Sprachca e Languages PLUS only teaches a language in a country in which it is

spoken. That makes the country, city, and its people an important part of the concept.

Learning with all the senses makes all the di erence! As a result of all my visits to Sprachca e Languages PLUS schools, I have come to

the conclusion that all the above mentioned features and qualities are in evidence.

Prof. Dr. Jürgen BenekeProfessor Jürgen Beneke, PhD, teaches Applied Linguistics at the Uni versity of Hildesheim

(Germany). His research interests are languages for professional purposes, foreign language

didactics and inter-cultural communication. He has been an adviser to many German and

European companies and the Federal Government and has also worked as consultant to

textbook producers and publishers in this eld.

Thinking of learning English properly and enjoying a Medi ter ra nean climate? Look no further than the very south of Europe!

The island of Malta is situated between Sic-ily and the coast of North Africa. The sun shines the whole year round on its North African-like landscape. Malta has a diverse culture, and has played a greater role in history and international politics, than most of the other islands on earth. The Phoenicians, the Romans, the French and the British have all come and gone. Now it’s your turn! Today Malta remains one of the most Catholic countries in the world; nowhere else are there so many religious holidays or so many churches per square mile. However, what makes Malta so interesting for a language course is the legacy left

behind by the British, who needed the island for its strate gic geographical position, well into the 1960s. Just as in all other former colonies, the judicial system and British administration have remai ned in place. English is the rst o cial and cultural language. The educational system is very British. Indeed the Maltese language schools are greatly respected throughout Europe.

The Maltese mentality is Mediterranean – a warm blend of Italian, Spanish and British. They drive on the left (like in Britain) and they insist on having a siesta (like in Italy and Spain). Otherwise, the Maltese are tolerant and open-minded, interested in all cultures, and they are a fun-loving people. The school is located in a quiet part of St. Julian’s Bay, yet, it is close to its nightlife centre called Paceville.

SCHOOL INFORMATION The school is simply breathtaking – a sight to behold! It is of unique architectural interest and was built at the beginning of the century. This striking, aesthetically pleasing stone building with its classical Greek-like elements and Roman arcades will not fail to impress you. Our campus, comprising of class rooms – almost all of which are airconditioned – apartments, restaurants, and gardens, not to mention the swimming pool and the beach volleyball court, is the perfect place to study and relax. The sun shines practically all year round, making it an outdoor experience when it comes to relaxa tion and leisure opportunities, which are almost unlimited.

SCHOOL INFORMATIONOur school and accommodations are located in the northern tourist village of St. Paul’s Bay, near where St. Paul landed on Malta nearly 2000 years ago. The accommodations, found near the city-centre, are perfectly positioned with shopping, leisure, night-life facilities, as well as the school, all within a ve to ten-minute walking radius.

The sea, never far away in St. Paul’s Bay, can be reached by foot in one to two minutes. The school is also situated within easy walking distance of the sea and features bright classes and common

areas. St. Paul’s Bay itself is a bustling, new seaside village mostly popular with English holiday- makers so students will have plenty of opportunities in their free time to practise their English not only with each other and the locals, but also with British visitors to the island.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

Our school in Brighton, which is accredited by the British Council, is located only a short walk away from our residence, the town centre and the beach. It is housed in an attractive Edwardian building with a good-sized patio garden, as well as, a com-mon room o ering free internet access.Students need to be aged 16+ to participate in adult programmes. 1 lesson = 45 minutes

OUR RESIDENCE / APARTHOTELThe residence, a Victorian building, is situated across the road from the seafront, opposite the once famous West Pier. All rooms have en-suite facilities, and many also have views of the sea. The residence also has a licensed bar, club, 24-hour reception and a restaurant.

INCLUDED IN THE PRICE • Placement test • English course as booked • Accommodation as booked • Educational material on loan • Certi cate

At the end of the 18th century, the English seaside resort of Brighton was fortunate enough to be chosen by the British Royal Family as its o cial summer residence.

Along with the Royal Family came the cream of English society, including the aristocracy and the so-called “moneyed” classes. As a result, Brighton immediately became associated with glamour and sophistication, and even today, Brighton is very much regarded to be a fashionable place. Whether it is for watching one of the many sporting events held in the city, eating at one of its many re nowned restaurants, clubbing in what is one of Europe’s live liest club scenes, or simply strolling along the pier or prome nade, Brighton in the 21st Century is as popular as ever. The Royal Pavilion is a sight well worth seeing. It was built specially for the Prince Regent at the turn of the 18th century.

The Mogul style archi tecture, palm trees, and gardens are exotic and exciting. The Pavilion re-counts a wonderful im pression of tropical India set among a unique ex ample of early 18th century English architecture. The Palace Pier isn’t just for taking a stroll, it has popcorn stands, sh-and-chips stalls, fortune tellers, an excellent night club, amuse ment arcades, and pubs. Brighton was

originally a shing village before it was colonised by the royals and the aristo cracy. The shermen lived in the winding lanes which are today´s attractions and have become known as The Lanes. The Lanes o er cosy pubs, anti que shops, book shops and cafés on every corner. Brighton is a city that has grown over the centu ries, it is still very young and a popular universitiy city. Part of the reason is due to the closeness to London, trains run directly to Victoria and take about 45 minutes.

Discover London – the centre of Europe, its culture and way of life by visiting our language schools.

If one thing is certain in life, it is that you will never be bored in London! Just take a look at “Time Out”, the ’daddy’ of all city-listings magazines to see the thousands of events and activities held in the city every week. Fancy a night-out at the theatre? No problem – London is the world’s theatre capital. Or what about a night out clubbing? Take your pick – London has one of the largest club scenes in the world. There are so many events going on at the same time in London that to take part in just a fraction of them would be impossible! What about a visit to one of the famous museums? Or maybe dinner in a fancy restaurant? Indian,

Chinese, West African, Indonesian, Mexican – the choice is endless. Over the centuries the city has embraced so many cultures from around the world that a visitor simply cannot take all of them in.

But then again, does it come as a surprise that London presents such a vibrant and colourful picture when one third of the world was once in uenced by the Brit-ish Empire?

Throughout the year students have the option to participate in an extra-curricu lar

social programme organised by Sprachca e. In the summer months, many students spend their time in the local parks – which feature a beautiful array of owers and ponds. Sports activities can also be enjoyed, with many of the parks o ering tennis courts, cricket pitches and woodlands – ideal for walking or cycling.

If one thing is certain in life, it is that you will never be bored in London! Just take a look at “Time Out”, the ’daddy’ of all city-listings magazines to see the thousands of events and activities held in the city every week. Fancy a night-out at the theatre? No problem – London is the world’s theatre

With its world-famous landmarks and trendiness, it’s no wonder people from all over the globe come to New York City.

New York is known as ‘The Big Apple’ and is a major source of entertainment, nance, and business around the world.

New York has long been immortalized in songs and movies for good reason. There’s just something exciting and electric about the city as residents,

students, and tourists bustle around the city. There’s literally something to do at all hours of the day with places such as music lounges, t-ness clubs, and diners opening 24 hours, 7 days a week.

From high-end designer goods on Fifth Ave to eclectic jewelry in Greenwich Village, from delicious Chinese food in Chinatown to fancy steakhouses on the Upper East, and from indie acts in nightclubs to grand-scale concerts by famous musicians, there’s a little something for every taste and every person. The city itself is a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic melt-ing pot of people and cultures from around the globe. Thus, it is very easy for students to make friends, practice English, and learn about American culture while enjoying famous New York cuisine such as New York pizza, cheesecake, and bagels. The Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, New York Yankees, MOMA, Metro-politan Museum of Art, SoHo, East Village, Fifth Ave – these are just a few of the many things and places you can enjoy in the city. And, for those students who want to escape the sprawl-ing metropolis, New York also has several beaches and parks where students can just sit back and unwind.

New York is truly the city that never sleeps!

The popular song, ‘I Left my Heart in San Francisco’ says it best. With the diversity of culture, people, and things to do, one can’t help but fall in love with the city.

San Francisco is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in the United States. The city is a gorgeous blend of historic Victorian architecture and modern buildings, and the cable cars which students can use to travel from site to site only add to the city’s overall charm.

Renowned for its romantic fog, the weather in San Francisco is very comfortable. It is ideal for a vari-ety of outdoor activities including playing sports, sailing, biking, jogging and, of course, strolling along the streets of the city.

There is a laidback and breezy atmosphere about the city that makes living in San Francisco so easy. The city is a hotspot for musicians and artists, and there are a number of festivals throughout the year that celebrate the arts including the Midsummer Mozart Festival, the San Francisco International Arts Festival, and the Film Festival. San Francisco is also home to the largest and oldest Chinatown in North America. The neighbourhood is not only culturally-signi cant and rich in history but it is very popular too – Chinatown draws more visitors to the area per year than the Golden Gate Bridge! Students will love shopping in one of the many neighborhoods, biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, and watching the sea lions at Fisherman’s Wharf. Come to San Francisco and prepare to lose your heart to the city.

Boston is the capital and the most popu-lous city in the Commonwealth of Massa-chusetts. It is known for its rich history and strong academics.

Founded in 1630, Boston is one of the oldest and most culturally signi cant cities in the United States. It was rst settled in the 1600s and the city architecture still re ects its historical roots – for example, near the campus downtown stands a modern skyscraper next to a 300 year-old church.

Millions of tourists come to Boston each year to learn about the American Revolution, and visit cultural and historical landmarks such as Faneuil Hall, the Heritage Trail, and Quincy Market.

The city was the site of several “ rsts”, including the rst public school and the rst subway system in America. Boston’s prime location on the North Atlantic and proximity to the coast means that residents can enjoy a variety of fresh seafood every day. Local lobster and traditional clam chowder are not to be missed in particular. With over 100 colleges and universities in the city alone, Boston is known as the ‘Athens of America.’ The world’s top university is in Boston, which cements this city’s reputation as being an intellectual center. It is no wonder why Boston is often the rst choice for students wishing to pursue language or post-secondary education. In fact, close to half of Bos-ton’s population is made up of students, making the city very student-friendly.

With mountains, waters, and even beaches, Vancouver o ers a little something for everyone!

With its combination of mild climate and beautiful scenery, Vancouver is one of the most popular destinations for tour-ists around the world.

Vancouver is located on the mainland of North America, in the southwest corner of British Columbia. British Columbia itself is Canada’s westernmost province and is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to its west and the Rocky Mountains to its east. Warmed by the currents of the Pacific Ocean and protected by the mountain range, Vancou-ver’s weather is mild year-round. The winters in Vancouver are wet but not cold, and it rarely snows. Greater Vancouver is made of up of 21 municipali-ties that occupy 2,930 square kilometers on and

around the Fraser River delta.

The City of Vancouver is the most prominent and famous of these municipalities. The best way to get

around Vancouver City is on foot, by bicycle, or even by boat. One of the best things about Vancouver is that students can see the mountains from virtually anywhere in the city.

From the school, students can walk or cycle to Stan-ley Park if they need an

escape from the bustling city. There, they can admire the art of Vancouver’s prominent First Nations people. Another Vancouver-favourite is Gastown, which attracts 1 million visitors each year. It is the oldest area of Vancouver and features Victorian-style buildings.

Victoria, one of Canada’s most beautiful mid-sized cities, is on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, on the west coast of Canada.

Victoria is the capital city of the province of British Columbia, and is con-veniently located a quick 15-minute flight from Vancouver International Airport or an equally convenient 40-minute ight from Seattle, Wash-ington. Vancouver Island can also be reached by an incredibly scenic ferry ride from the mainland, where students may even get the chance to see a killer whale or two along the way. Surrounded by the Paci c Ocean, Victoria enjoys very mild weather all year round, making it perfect for students to enjoy a great variety of

water sports – including water skiing, sailing, rowing, and more. The gorgeous owers of the Butchart Gardens are Victoria’s crowning glory. In fact, Victoria even derives a nickname, ‘The

City of Gardens’, from them. Students will be equallyimpressed by the majesty of the Fairmont Empress Hotel and the Inner Har-bour. The lively Inner Har-bour, in particular, features music performances from aspiring artists and street vendors and is a favourite of residents and students

alike. Since it is considered a smaller city, the local residents of Victoria are very friendly – often going out of their way to help international stu-dents. The warm and welcoming atmosphere of the city will melt away stress and make anyone feel at home instantly.

As the nation’s capital, Ottawa is in the heart of historic and culturally-rich eastern Canada.

Ottawa is one of the world’s most beautiful capital cities. Its charm and convenient size make it a wonderful place to live and study.

Ottawa is the capital of Canada and the centre of Canadian government. The buildings of Parliament Hill look like they have been transported directly from Europe! The site of nu-merous festivals, light shows, tours, and of course, Royal Canadian Mounted Police parades, Parliament Hill has something everyone should see. Ottawa’s natural treasures include beaches, parks, woodlands, rivers, and lakes. Of particular pride to the people of Ottawa is the Rideau Canal, which o ers a unique experience to visitors regard-less of the season. 7.8 kilometers long, in winter it is the world’s largest ice-skating rink; and in summer it provides a perfect sightseeing route for recrea-

tional boating. Students can enjoy walking, roll-erblading, or cycling along the banks of the Rideau Canal too. Ottawa was rst chosen as the capital of Canada by the Queen of England for its strategic

location between the other major cities in the eastern region. Thus, it is very easy for students to organize trips to Montreal (2 hours by bus), Toronto (5.5 hours by bus), and Niagara Falls (6.5 hours by bus). There are four very distinct seasons in Ottawa, and students can

enjoy many seasonal activities such as Winterlude, the largest festival in all of Canada, in winter; the Tulip Festival in spring; and the best Canada Day celebrations in summer. Being the capital as well, Ottawa is home to Canada’s national museums and heritage sites. There is no shortage of things to do and love in this stately city.

Surrounded by mountains and full of friendly people, Calgary is the Canada that people envision – the Canada of your dreams!

Calgary, the largest city in Alberta province, is located right between the Rocky mountains and the Canadian prairies. It comprises everything that large cities o er and yet keeps a less stressful pace of life - making it an ideal place to study and live in. Calgary is Canada’s most rapidly-growing city and is known as having a lower cost of living, according to most students. The stage for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, the city continues receiving athletes today. Thus, Cal-gary is a great place to enjoy sports – especially those related to snow.

Ban National Park and Lake Louise, two of the most majestic natural attractions in all of Canada, are a mere 45 minutes drive away, and are guar-

anteed to take anyone’s breath away. Inside the city, students can enjoy the view of the city from Cal-gary Tower, catch a Calgary Flames hockey game in Saddledome, and go shop-ping in Calgary’s popular ’17 Avenue’ district. Among the several events that take place in the city, the Calgary

Stampede is by far the largest. Occurring every July, it celebrates Calgary’s `Old West´ spirit and attracts over a million visitors every year. It features the world’s largest rodeo, a parade, chuckwagon races, and many shows. In fact, Calgary’s nick-name, ‘Stampede Town’, comes from this exciting ten-day event.

Montréal is Canada’s second-largest city and one of the largest bilingual cities in the world. It is known for its vibrant at-mosphere and exquisite beauty.

Montréal is an island in the large St. Lawrence River. Most of the people of Montréal are bilingual, speaking uent English and French. The eighty ethnic communities and four universities reflect Montréal’s vitality. The city is built around a mountain and is full of parks and many interesting communities such as Downtown, Old Montreal, Mount Royal, and the Island Parks. There are outstanding museums, antique stores, high-fashion boutiques, rst-rate restaurants, a tremendous shopping district, and

‘the Underground City’. Students can also enjoy many foods particular to Montreal including smoked meat and poutine. The city is renowned for its European culture, its architecture, and its

international festivals. In fact, Montréal is some-times known as the ‘City of Festivals’ due to the sheer number of events the city has in one year. Of particu-lar fame are the Montréal International Jazz Festival, the International Fireworks Festival, and the Canadian Grand Prix, which is Canada’s only Formula 1 race. These

events draw millions of visitors from around the globe, and really highlight the city’s devotion to the arts, beauty, and fun. Montréal is a great place for students to study English, French, or both lan-guages at the same time.

In the past it was considered noble and distinguished to speak French – particu-larly in the Royal Courts of the 18th century.

Nice is more than simply the capital of the Côte D’ Azur, it’s the fth largest town in France, a chic and irtatious coastal resort with a backdrop of wealth and ne architecture. Located on the Medi-terranean coast at the western end of the Riviera, the city boasts a plethora of ruins, museums, bou-tiques, and an appealing French café culture. Cafés occupy weathered 17th and 18th century build-ings, while outdoor markets crowd the old town’s streets and Venetian-style squares. Like most of the Riviera, Nice has a lively nightlife and the old city stays open until the early hours of the morning.

The jazz festival in July attracts famous inter-national artists. The carnival in February with its procession of ower oats and the famous “Bataille des Fleurs” attracts visitors from all over the world. Nice is also an excellent base for visiting other interesting sites on the Riviera – Monaco, Cannes and Antibes are easily accessible by train. There are bus services to visit St. Tropez, famous for its lm and pop stars. This is the place where Mika invented the delicious Tarte Tropézienne.Travel inland and you can visit Grasse, the home of French perfume. Then there is St.Paul de Vence Cathedral perched on the top of a hill, where you will enjoy a breathtaking view over Nice, its un-derstandable why so many artists have painted in Nice.

SCHOOL INFORMATIONSprachca e Languages PLUS Paris was opened in 1986 as a private institute accredited by the Rectorat of Paris and the ministry of Labour, and is well known for its methodology based on the pedagogical project proper to the French. It is located in downtown Paris, the so-called Cours Rougemont, and lies right in the middle of the historical, cultural, artistic and economic centre. The nearest underground station is called “Grands Boulevards”, it is the 9th arrondissement. The school is within walking distance to museums, hostels and restaurants, as well as, an endless number of little boutiques and bars.

When arriving in Paris for your language course you may nd the city more grand, evocative, beautiful, and stimulating than you had imagined it to be.

Called “the City of Lights”, Paris is truly one of the world’s most beautiful cities. This capital city is made up of 20 districts or “arrondissements”. Each arrondissement has its own character and meaning for Parisians and o ers an abundance of cathedrals, palaces, parks and gardens. The streets of Paris are lled with scores of famous monuments and land-marks: the Ei el Tower, Nôtre Dame, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Ste-Chapelle, the Conciergerie and the Place des Invalides to name but a few. The art, music, theatre, fashion, literature, and architecture of Paris make it a haven for language travellers from all over the world. The French revolu-

tion ensured the development of a certain spirit of thought, now a particular western mentality, and a strong sense for the individual prevails. It has also paved the way for an inventive and creative spirit in the arts, architecture, literature, and music that enhanced the development of science and technology. This fact is proudly remembered and alluded to by contemporary French people. Re-cently, on the 200th anniversary of the revolution, the city presented more breathtaking monuments to modern architecture, which rival any in Europe. Paris is cutting edge when it comes to fashion and the arts: theatre and ballet have sent a message out to the whole world and we all know that there is a bona de contemporary scene in Paris. One prime example is the Louvre which is a must for all those who enjoy some of the world’s nest collections of paintings.

Madrid remains one of the most exciting capital cities in Europe.

In the very centre of Spain, surrounded by the arid ‘Mesta’ plane, Madrid is one of the most cosmo-politan and vibrant cities in Europe. Madrid’s his-tory reaches back to the 10th century as a forti ed Moorish town. In 1607, Madrid became Spain’s permanent capital and has ourished ever since, making it a vibrant, modern city. Visits to the opera, theatre, Royal Palace and museums are just a sam-ple of the cultural delights Madrid has to o er to international students. It was only in 1561 that Felipe II made Madrid the capital of Spain. The dy-namism of the city which ensued can be best seen in the architecture. The imposing colonial build-ings seen almost everywhere contribute to the un appable self-con dence and composure of the people. Hardly any other metropolis has opened

the door to modern Europe as much as Madrid has after King Juan Carlos came to reign in 1975. Indeed, the monarch is widely credited with hav-ing overseen Spain´s transition from dictatorship to democracy. The capital’s remarkable collection of museums and galleries includes The Prado, the Museo Reina So a and the Museo Thyssen Borne-misza. The Prado alone is considered to hold the most signi cant collection of historical art in all of Spain. Take some souvenirs of Madrid´s majestic past back home, you will de nitely nd some-thing at one of the best ea markets in the world, an absolute must for antique collectors. There are plenty of cafes and bars. Anyone who wishes to enjoy Spanish culture and learn the language will achieve this with the help of our Sprachca e Languages PLUS teachers. Our sta is always well informed when it comes to current events and will make sure you get to know the city.

The school is situated in a district of Málaga called Pedregalejo, about 2 km from the city centre and less than 100 meters away from the beach. Along the beach you will nd many bars and authentic seafood restaurants, as well as the school’s bo-dega “La Tortuga“, the place where we celebrate our welcome parties each Monday. The city centre can be reached easily by public transport, as there is a bus stop right next to the school. Sprachca e Languages PLUS is situated in a district of Málaga close to the beach.

INCLUDED IN THE PRICE • Placement test • Spanish course as booked • Accommodation as booked • Educational material on loan • Certi cate

Andalusia has always been a popular destination for lovers of Spanish language and culture.

Located on the Mediterranean coast, the so-called Costa del Sol, Málaga is a cosmopolitan city and Spain’s second largest harbour. Málaga was conquered in 1487 by the Reyes Católicos (the Catholic Monarchs). The city then became part of a united Spain, which laid the founda-tions for the Golden Era of Spain. Málaga has much to o er – theatres, cinemas, museums, a bullring and exciting nightlife. The mild climate offers approximately 326 days of sun each year and its beaches are just a short distance from the city. The city owes its individuality and air to the ancient eastern walls, and the cultural ” nger-prints” left behind by the Saracens and

the Moors, who encouraged the establishment of many other religions. We have discovered a very peaceful area in Pedregalejo on the edge of the city, an ideal place to live and learn, and close to ”El Palo”, the nightlife centre of Málaga.

Andalusia, unspoiled by its climate, leaves the impression that it will always ourish. The area is ideally located for setting out on excursions, especially anywhere around the coastal region and the neighbouring Sierra Nevada (an excellent skiing area). The promenade, frequented by count-less locals, o ers bars and seafood restaurants. The colourful lifestyle is present everywhere, be it in cafes, shopping arcades or clubs. Here, the young Andalusians dance the night away, and you will nd it pleasing to get to know them as they are curious to meet guests from all around the world.

Playa del Carmen is blessed with miles of unspoiled white sandy beaches and crystal-clear Caribbean waters, which is becoming harder and harder to nd.

It’s a place for those in search of the real Carib-bean. There are numerous outrageously delicious restaurants and several hotels which o er the highest standards of service. Combine that with a relaxed Mexican-Caribbean feeling, some alabaster-white beaches; gentle surf and coral reefs – and you’ve got Playa! Most of Playa’s ac-tivities involve water: divers and people who want to snorkel come to Playa del Carmen to enjoy the great waters and excellent diving conditions. Deep sea shing trips and kayaking are two other main

activities visitors of Playa del Carmen often enjoy. Playa, located some 60 km south of Cancun, is not only the perfect place to study and relax, but also an ideal base from which to explore the myriad of attractions in the area: Cozumel, Cancun, and all of the fabulous archeological sites in the area, such as Chichen Itza, Mexico’s most extensively restored archaeological site and one of the most awe-inspiring archeological places in the world. Other sites including Xcaret, Xel Ha, Coba (one of the largest cities from the Mayan age) and Tulum are also within easy reach. Sprachca e is located in the heart of Playa with numerous clubs, shops and attractions in the vicinity. Also the paradisia-cal caribbean beaches are just a couple of minutes away.

Cuba, located in the heart of the American Mediterranean, just south of the Tropic of Cancer, at the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, looks as if it is caught like a cigar between the fingers of Florida and the Yucatan Peninsula.

La Habana is Cuba´s economic, cultural, and political centre. The city enjoys the greatest cultural heritage of Cuba and is the most wonderful former Spanish colonial complex in the Americas. You will be over-whelmed by the wealth of historical monuments and the boisterous friend liness of the Cuban people. The unique joyful culture of Cuba derives its roots from Caribbean, African, and Spanish traditions. There are museums, monuments, fortresses, pal-aces and traces of history all over the island. The old

town of Havana is protected by UNESCO as a site of cultural and historical importance. The responsibil-ity of maintaining and restoring its infrastructure lies in the hands of its people, whose attempts to preserve the old town are clearly prioritised despite the di cult economic situation. The Cuban people are especially proud of their revolution.

It attracts many visitors to whom the Cubans extend a warm welcome. It is easy to make contact, ask questions and make arrangements. We o er you a unique opportunity to become familiarised with Cuban society and culture. Our school is located in Miramar, the residential embassy area of Havana. The city o ers beautiful beaches on both sides of the centre, the “Playas del Oeste” near to our Club Residence, and the “Playas del Este” to the east.

Today’s Rome is a contemporary metropolis of world fame which still re ects the vari-ous epochs of its long and colourful history in its architecture, culture and people. The city’s large historical centre can be divided into many di erent architectural areas from Ancient Rome to Medieval times, from the Renaissance era to Baroque, Art Nouveau, Neoclassicism, Modernism and Rationalism. For this reason, the city is so often considered a sort of living encyclopaedia covering the last 3000 years of Western art. Try to get your cultural ll but be sure to leave time for the more hedonistic activities for which Rome is famous: its wonderful sunshine and the cool fountains in small, hidden squares and the warm evening strolls through a city over owing with areas and sights to suit every taste: Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Trinità dei Monti, Trastevere

and the Pantheon are all incredibly wonderful places-probably among the most beautiful sites in the world-where people of all ages and genera-tions divide their time between enjoying a glass of good Italian wine and a home-made gelato! It is no wonder that our guests return home with a tear in their eye and a full heart! Rome has much more to o er, besides urban feel-ing. The wonderful beaches of Circeo, Sabaudia, Sperlonga, Argentario and Ponza are a great way to get away for the weekend and experience the Tyrrhenian. Naturally our colleagues at the school will do their best to help you organize such trips, whether you want to explore new and di er-ent areas of the city or venture out into Rome’s surrounding region. As the saying goes ‘when in Rome, do as the Romans do’. Do exactly this by overloading your senses with the abundance of pleasures that the city has to o er.

We have the perfect location for all lovers of Italian culture and language

Located 120 kilometres inland from Italy’s west coast and 200 kilometres northwest of Rome, Florence boasts a proud history of art and architecture, un-surpassed elsewhere in Europe, it is the true cradle of the Renaissance. The absolutely breathtaking city will give you a vision of what it would have been like to live in such a prosperous Renaissance city. Florence has so much to o er to the international visitor that every day can be specked with new cultural experi-ences. The streets of Florence radiate the charm of Italian culture. Students from all around discover the ‘Flower’ (Florence or Florentia in Italian/Latin).

Numerous museums and palaces, as well as private galleries, bars, cafes, and even clubs and discos exude a deep-rooted sense of beauty and design.

Anyone who comes here to study and is exposed to all of Florence’s attractions, will simply learn of the desire to speak the language, to communicate with the Florentine people and to indulge in this rich culture. Whether it is something modern, classical, ancient, or rustic, we know that if it comes from Florence, then it has style. The city is a must for trendsetters, furniture designers, craftsmen, artists, architects and fashion design-ers. This is perhaps a result of the interaction between tradesmen from many countries who not only brought their goods but introduced their cultures as well. The Renaissance in uenced Florence´s mentality and left its ngerprints on the unique language. Home of Dante, Machiavelli, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and the Medici, Florence is overwhelming with its wealth and pride, a most enticing city.

From our school-terrace in Florence the overwhelming view.

The school will be closed on following public holidays: 09.04., 25.04., 01.05., 15.08., 01.11.2012.

Capo Vaticano is situated on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria (Southern Italy), just about 3 km from Tropea.

Calabria, generally thought of as a maritime re gion, is actually an elongated peninsula with some 800 km of mostly mountainous coastline. Overlook-ing the clear waters of the Medi terr a nean, Capo Vaticano is known for its natural scenic beauty, beaches and far-reaching history. Tropea, the most well-known town in the area, is only a short leap away from Capo Vaticano and known for its ar-chaeological past, modern-day harbour and rustic houses built on cli terraces. The cape is regarded as a secret haven among surfers, sailors, and divers.

From the rocky landscape of Capo Vaticano, there is a wonderful view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and if weather permits, you can see as far as Sicily and the island of Stromboli with its active volcano.

The Greeks, the Romans and even the Normans discovered the delight of this fertile landscape across the bridge of the Italian Atlas and remained there for long periods. Discover the various aspects of Calabria: Reggio Calabria – an exciting mix between modern city and famous testimonials of antique times. Eolian Islands – a breathtaking trip by boat to the Islands (highlight: volcano Strom-boli). Or do a weekend trip to Taormina (Sicily) with its known Greco-Roman amphitheatre.

Calabria – learn Italian next to beautiful beaches and interesting remains of ancient cultures.

Cooking course, 4 days from € 170,- p.p., also for elementaries! Discover the fanciful variety of mediterranean cooking in our cooking courses! As well as the many varieties of pasta, typical vegetable dishes form the basis of Calabrian cooking. Highlights are the variety of ways in which sh can be prepared: grilled, baked or marinated – creativity knows no bounds. The cookery courses are led in Italian by local, experienced chefs. You can choose between di erent weeks and topics.

Beijing has been the capital city of the Middle Kingdom for almost 800 years.

The rulers of Ancient China constructed magni cent palaces, imperial residences and scores of temples as a show of power and lordship. The Forbidden City – where our school is located – is the heart of the city and served as residence of the Ming and Qing emperors. It is the largest example of ancient architecture in the world and listed as Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO.

Nowadays, Beijing has a population of approxi-mately 13 million inhabitants and is the nation’s political and cultural centre. The city which is now a major hub for shopping, retail and trade is one

of the best preserved centres and still retains a mysterious feel of distant times. Having hosted the 2008 Olympic Games, the city has undergone substantial changes: parks and green areas have been re-designed by landscape designers.

Nevertheless, the city has kept its original unique-ness which it is famous for. Beijing o ers easy con-nections to the most important sites, such as: the Great Wall, the Ming Tombs, the Summer Palace, temples and lamaseries. Chinese is the most spo-ken language in the world and although it is very di erent, even students staying a few weeks can enjoy speaking it quickly and easily.

Come and explore our amazing history!

Frankfurt – the centre of European economics and currency.

Frankfurt stands on the banks of the River Main and is the centre of Europe´s economy and currency.

Once a vital inland port and centre of trade, it is now Europe´s largest financial centre after London. For many, Frankfurt is a city of sky scra pers. They have given Frankfurt the epithet, “Mainhat-ten”. A closer look reveals a metropolis of many charms; the houses are picturesque and many have been restored in the city centre. The unique “Mu-seum Mile” along the banks of the river, which

have become an altogether pleasurable zone for the aneur, including cocktail bars and garden restaurants, invite you to enjoy extensive strolls and delicious local food and drinks. The part of Frankfurt called “Sachsenhausen”, where the school is located, is said to be the most elegant district of the city. Actually, it has two parts: The old section is where you amble along narrow cobblestone streets amidst tiny gabled houses. This is where you will nd pub after pub. The fan-cier area of Sachsenhausen boasts charming cafes and boutiques with a vibrancy found nowhere else.

A R A B I C I N R A B A TSCHOOL INFORMATION

Our school is very much an oasis in the most elegant area of the city: Souissi, which is close to the city centre and the beach. Our villa, with its fruit trees and song birds is the ideal environment for our stu-dents to relax and learn. Our air-conditioned 400 m2 facility has eight class-rooms, a library and a cafeteria. The school has a tranquil garden with fountains and plenty of space for quiet study or re ection. The ocean is also just a couple of minutes away. The school residence is about 3 km from the school and we o er a free morning shuttle service to students.

From its towering city walls to its breath-taking Atlantic coastline, the Moroccan cap-ital of Rabat will enchant and inspire you.

Its history dates back to pre-Roman times, when the settlement of Chellah was established at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River in the third century BCE. The fortress there and its sister fortress, the Kasbah of the Oudayas, are fantastic reminders of Rabat’s grand past. Throughout the city, our students will come across architectural marvels centuries old. They’ll be able to explore marketplaces established in medieval times and visit museums, palaces and mosques. They have a unique opportunity to glimpse the reality and gain insight into one of the most exotic cultures in the world.

Rabat became Morocco’s capital in 1912 and has continued to prosper into the modern, dynamic city it is today. Rabat is a 21st century city, with all the conveniences and entertainment you can expect of a city of its size. We are able to organize short trips to other great Moroccan cities every weekend. From Rabat’s central location, the Imperial Moroccan capi-tals of Meknes, Marrakech, and Fes are within easy reach. Excursions to explore these great cities are simply a few hours away by train.

Like most Arab cultures, Moroccan people are famous for their hospitality. Moroccans love to meet international students and are excited to share their culture with guests. Our sta also very much enjoys participating in this exchange of ideas.

1. Enrolment: Fill in the application form and post or fax it to the address mentioned at the back of the brochure. A deposit of 20 % of the total amount is due at the time of regis tration. With your application you commit your-self to the services requested and booking conditions. After having received your application and deposit we will send the con rmation of enrolment and the invoice. The welcome pack with extra information and the address of your accommodation will be sent after you have settled the remaining balance. The invoice must be paid in full four weeks before arrival.

2. Rebooking: To change a booking (e.g. arrival date, accommodation, etc.) up to 31 days before departure we will be obliged to charge a fee of 50 €. Afterwards we will do our utmost, but cannot guarantee the ful lment of the request made since extra costs may incur; the rebooking charge will also exceed 50 €.

3. Cancellation: You may cancel your enrolment at any time prior to the commencement of your course. However, you will be charged cancellation fees: - cancellation up to 30 days before course commencement: 10 % of total fees, max. 150 € or equivalent.- cancellation between 15 and 29 days before commencement: 25 % of total fees, max. 300 € or equivalent.- cancellation between 1 and 14 days before commencement: 50 % of total fees, max. 600 € or equivalent.Thereafter, 90 % of the total fee is required, max. 1000 € or equivalent. After arrival, no refund will be made. If you prefer, you can take our insurance on the cancellation fee. This is 2 % of the total amount (min. 50 €).The insurance must be settled upon registration and will only apply if you cancel prior to departure due to health reasons (on receipt of written con rmation from the relevant doctor). In the unlikely event the school won’t be able to create a group course due to the fact of not having enough students at the same time/level, smaller group or One to One courses for a reduced amount of lessons will be provided instead (20 lessons = 12 lessons / 30 lessons = 18 lessons). Under the rare circumstances of our being forced to cancel, all fees paid for Sprachca e services will be refunded. The minimum number of participants for exam preparation courses is 4 students.

4. Visa: In order to provide the letter of acceptance required by the embassy for issuing a visa, 40 % of the total amount should be paid together with an additional charge of 80 € or equivalent. In case of visa refusal, a full refund minus the additional, non refundable charge of 80 € can only be made if the student provides the letter of refusal issued by the embassy at the latest 14 days before departure. After this date we will consider the participation of the student as con rmed and normal cancellation/rebooking fees will apply. In case the visa has not yet been issued 15 days before departure, we strongly recommend postponing the course. In this case, the rst rebooking fee will not be charged (evidence required).

5. Acceptable forms of payment: - By bank transfer: The relevant account number will be on the invoice. Please send us a copy of the transfer order. All bank charges will be incurred by you.- By credit card: Upon noti cation by you, the appropriate form will be sent and needs to be completed with name of the credit card company, card number, expiry date and signature. An additional 2 % credit card fee will be charged.

6. Insurance: Neither agent, operator, nor the school will be held responsible in any way for any accident, illness, loss of personal e ects or change in personal circumstances arising at any time prior to or during the course. We therefore strongly recommend our personal travel insurance (incl. Health, Third-party, Accident and Baggage: 50 € per person per month). 7. Liability: Parents of minors agree that neither Sprachca e nor the homestay shall be liable for damage or problems caused either negligently or intentionally by their children while participating in trips. Parents and their children who are still minors recognise and accept the laws and the normal code of conduct of the country which they are visiting.
