• Natural disasters have plagued our world for the last decade. There have been earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and tornados which have left a devastating path of destruction. Furthermore, glaciers have been melting at an alarming rate. This unstoppable devastation is the result of human irrational, consumerist mentality. This has led to the loss of fresh water and the loss of natural habitats. In order to save the planet actions must be taken to face the obvious environmental problems caused by global warming.

• The opinion of more people and organizations are in support of global warming being caused by irresponsible human behaviour. Pope Francis has placed blame on the consumerist mentality of developed industrialised countries (as cited in Yardley & Goodstein, 2015). This can be seen in our own country where there is usage of resources without any foresight into the actual consequences. For instance, Mexico City is a metropolis where not even the birds can live because of the polluted air. This problem has become so serious that according to Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, founder and chairman of the Pots dam institute for climate Impact research, the scientific community has to now address the moral impact of science on society. (as cited in Yardley & Goodstein,2015). This impact can be seen with people using technology that is used to emit less damaging gases and waste into the environment. This can be seen with hybrid cars and recycling programs to limit unnecessary pollution. The world is beginning to realize the consequences of years of exploitation; however, in order to coexist in our world serious actions need to be accepted by society and world governments must take action.

• Although there has been an overall acceptance of global warming there are some who still do not accept it as a significant danger to humanity. According to Patrick Moore, the founder of Greenpeace, ‘There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (C02) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years. If there were such proof it would be written down for all to see. No actual proof, as it is understood in science, exists.’ (as cited Thornhill, 2014). However, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states: ‘It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid 20th century (as cited Thornhill, 2014). . Moreover, the changes in the environment are now seen and felt by non-scientists like the pope who has recently campaigned for more global awareness in the negative consequences of climate change and the consumerist mentality that promotes it (as cited in Yardley & Goodstein, 2015). ). The few scientists who ignore the signs of global warming seem to often be promoting a lucrative trade that would be damaged by environmental consciousness. For instance, Moore has advocated for logging and nuclear energy (as cited Thornhill, 2014). Despite the fact that without regulated logging there would be destruction of our limited forests and thus our oxygen. Furthermore, nuclear energy has proven to be deadly even to one of the most advanced societies in the world– the Japanese– who could not control their own nuclear facilities after a natural disaster occurred due to global warming People today simply need to turn their televisions on and witness the devastation that climate change is causing. The world is warming and those who continue to defy what is so visible to everyone else need to be ignored and solutions must be made.

Evaluation• Sum up main points

• Reflect on the effect this person has had on your life.

• Give a final opinion or future prediction

• In retrospect, I find difficulty fathoming my current situation without your support. When I was failing high school you gave me the support and the wisdom to acknowledge my weaknesses and make a plan of action to overcome them. Once again I have failed an exam, but I think back to your advice and know what I have to do. Analyze my mistakes and study until I am prepared and take the exam again.
