L isted below is a general overview of acceptable casual business attire as well as a listing of some common items that are inappropriate for the AVANCE workplace. A good rule of thumb is: If you are not sure if something is accept- able; choose something else. Business Casual: In general clothing should be clean, wrinkle- free and stain-free. Clothing should not reveal cleavage or chest, stomach, back or underwear. Pants/Slacks: Should fit appropriately and should fall below the knee. Inappropriate items: jeans of any color, pants with writing, sweatpants, wind suits, shorts (including short shorts, walking shorts, Ber- muda shorts, etc.) bib overalls, leggings, span- dex or other form-fitting pants/slacks Shirts: Should fit appropriately (avoid revealing stomach, back or underwear); including blouses, golf shirts, sweaters, and turtlenecks Inappropriate items: tank tops, sweatshirts, t-shirts with inappropriate language or logos, halter-tops, strapless tops, and tops that reveal cleavage Dresses and Skirts: Should be no shorter than two inches above the knee Inappropriate items: Mini-skirts and dresses or skirts with splits that are more than 3 inches above the knee. Footwear: Avoid athletic shoes, tennis shoes or sneakers, thongs, flip-flops and slippers. Jewelry / Hats: Should not obstruct ability to work or have any inappropriate language or logos Piercings / Tattoos: Pierced ears are the only ac- ceptable piercing that can be visible.
