Class News

Lapwings Class & Hatchlings:

Lapwings have had great fun learning all about the 3 little pigs. We have learnt to retell the story, and are beginning to write our own versions. We have been busy making traps for the wolf and investigating the strength of different materials.

Owls Class:

Owls class had a fantastic world book day and celebrated the occasion by doing a range of different activities. The children all dressed up and brought their favourite book. We wrote a book review on "There is no dragon on this story". We also listened to some traditional stories and read some of our favourite books.

Heron Class:

It’s been an exciting week for Herons! We have all been working very hard on our Boudicca speeches and we picked some of the best ones to be read out in assembly. They certainly made the rest of the class want to rise up and fight the Romans! World book day was a complete success and the children came in with some fantastic costumes. We all discussed our favourite books and authors and had a great day.

Crane Class:

It was lovely to see so many children dress up for World Book Day - a fantastic response and well done to all those who came in costume. A reminder that next Monday (11th) we will be attending the Taunton School football and netball tournament, leaving school at 12pm and returning at 4:15pm. Have a lovely weekend!

In the Interest of our children's safety,

please can we remind everyone that photo’s

of children other than your own cannot be

shared on any social media platform without

the explicit consent of the parent\guardian.

This includes pages that are not open to the

public. Thank You.

Please can we remind everyone that at the end of the school day, children are the responsibility of parents and should be supervised accordingly. Out of school hours we expect the same high standard of behaviour of children playing on the trim trail

Uniform

Following parental suggestion and parent consultation, it has been decided at trust level that all schools within The Levels Academy Trust will have a compulsory tie as part of their uniform in Key Stage Two (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6). Children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 are welcome to wear a tie should they wish. As from September 2019 children will be expected to wear white polo shirts/shirts as part of their school uniform instead of pale blue. The School trends website will be updated but this can take up to a week. From this point forward when replacing your children's school shirts, please do so with white shirts/polo shirts.

Champion Music Group have pupil space available for private Drum lessons to take place in school! Lessons are £9.50 for 20 minutes or £13.50 for 30 minutes and take place weekly. Apply online at www.championmusicgroup.co.uk/registration

Breakfast Club Due to very few children using the Breakfast club at present it is running at a large loss. Unfortunately as a school we can not afford this. Therefore, It was discussed at the local school governors meeting last night and the first port of call is to try and promote usage of the Breakfast club. This will be reviewed after February half term. We therefore need more children to attend regularly. We are at present averaging only 4 children per week.

Breakfast Club is available every

morning from 7.30 to 8.30 at a cost of

£3.50 per session. This includes

breakfast and drink.

After School Drama Clubs at The Nurture Shed, Middlezoy

You will have received a leaflet about drama clubs at The Nurture Shed in Middlezoy. In order to make this possible we have made the following minibus plans:

On a Wednesday, Key Stage 2 children attending the club will be bussed over just before the end of the school day. This will not affect the normal mini bus run.

On a Monday, Key Stage 1 children attending the club will be bussed over using the free spaces on the 3.15pm bus. The bus will leave Othery and will go via The Nurture Shed to drop off and then carry on to Middlezoy School to drop off and collect the final children. It is anticipated that this will cause a 5 minute delay in Othery children reaching Middlezoy and the final Middlezoy children reaching Othery. This will only affect a Monday. Whilst this isn't ideal, I hope you appreciate the benefits this opportunity can bring and we thank you in advance for your co-operation.

The Key Stage 1 club will finish at 4.45pm (Monday) and the Key Stage 2 club will finish at 4.15pm (Wednesday). Children need to be collected from the Nurture Shed in Middlezoy at these times. Payments to the Nurture Club please.
