About the Conclave

About the InstitutionSri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University) (SRIHER) (formerly known as Sri Ramachandra University), ranked among the top health sciences universities in India, had its origin as Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute which was established by Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust under its Founder & Managing Trustee Shri. N. P. V. Ramasamy Udayar, in the year 1985, as a private not-for-profit self-financing institution and dedicated to serve the society as a centre of excellence in medical education, research and health care. The Government of India declared Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute as a Deemed University in September, 1994. Shri. V. R. Venkataachalam is currently the Chancellor of the Deemed to be University and is also the Managing Trustee of the Trust. Shri. R. V. Sengutuvan is the Pro-Chancellor of the Institution.

Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC), which is renowned for its quality medical services and health service provider in India, has collaborated with the Faculty of Management of SRIHER to host the conclave for the Hospital Administrators, HACON 2020.

The Faculty of Management (FoM) which is a unit of SRIHER(DU), caters to the needs of healthcare industry of India by offering the BBA and MBA programs in Hospital and Health Systems Management. MBA offers three elective streams: Healthcare Finance, Healthcare Quality and Healthcare HR. The programs offered adopt an intensive curriculum, with class room teaching and practical learnings. The graduates are, thus well equipped to be competi-tive. The FoM's Alumni have been well placed in strategic positions in hospitals, healthcare and its related industries across India and abroad.

Hospital and Health Systems Administration faces many challenges in India. Some of these challenges have evolved overtime as a result of growing, complex, and diverse healthcare offerings. Rising costs in almost every area have been impacting hospitals and other health-care providers as well as patient willingness to seek healthcare. Regulatory changes have also broughtforth issues for providers.

While information technology (IT) opens the doors for resolving some healthcare management issues, it also raises issues of security and regulatory compliance to the emerging patient protection laws. The past years have seen an increase in cyber attacks on IT systems and the largest number of data breaches within health services sector. The intervention of technology in healthcare services coupled with innovations provides not only opportunities but also poses challenges to hospitals and healthcare units. This conclave synchronizes with the real time issues of hospital administration and to shed more light on healthcare design and strategy, disruption, revolution and innovation in healthcare technology thereby extending its scope to the trends in healthcare quality and safety.
