Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute was established in 1985 by our founder Chancellor, Shri NPV Ramasamy Udayar. The institution has steadily grown in stature under the able and dynamic leadership of our present Chancellor Shri VR Venkataachalam and has attained global recognition with ‘A’ grade NAAC accreditation.

The Department of Pathology, SRMC & RI was established in the year 1986 with basic infrastructure for academics and research. Over the years the Department has grown in strength with state–of-the-art equipments, infrastructure and abundance of academic material. Currently, the diagnostic armamentarium includes Diagnostic Histopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Cytopathology, Clinical Pathology, Molecular Pathology and Perinatal Pathology. Academic activities include undergraduate, postgraduate

a host of paramedical courses . Today with a team of dedicated faculty members, well trained staff and an input of ten postgraduates per year, the Department has firmly established itself as a leader and pioneer in the field of Pathology. Besides teaching, the faculties are involved in research projects mostly funded by central funding agencies. With a vision to share knowledge, an educational programme SPARRC – Sri Ramachandra Pathology Annual Rapid Review Course was introduced with over 300 delegates participating from all over India. Overall the Department provides quality diagnostic services for the Medical Center and Hospital, and nurtures a spirit of scientific advancement in academics and research. The uniquely titled “Department of Pathology Endowment Oration” was instituted in the year 2004 and is being conducted at regular intervals with eminent speakers of national and international repute. This is the

th6 Endowment Oration.

MD PhD and PhD programs

Prof. C. Sundaram obtained her MBBS and MD degree (1983) from Andhra University, Vizag. Subsequently the Indian College of Pathologist conferred the prestigious FICP fellowship in 1993 and FAMS from National Academy of Medical Sciences, She received International Diploma in Myologe from Institute of Myologe, Paris in 2007.

She started her career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology, Gandhi Medical College in 1986 and later joined Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences. Her passion for the subject, excellent teaching skills, active involvement in Clinicopathological research paved the way to immense success. She held many important administrative positions as the Department Head and Dean of Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences.

She has the credit of establishing the first Neuro-muscular laboratory in Andhra Pradesh state with histochemical, enzyme histochemical and immunohistochemical stains for diagnosis of muscular dystrophies and inflammatory myopathies.

She has 233 publications in peer reviewed national and international journals, 130 invited guest faculty and 11 endowment oration at various institute. She has contributed chapters in various text books including CME proceedings in state level and national conferences.

She has been conferred with Dr. S.J. Nagalotimath excellence in teaching award. Her simplicity, hard work, thirst for knowledge, passion for Pathology and Research has earned her, the lifetime achievement award in 2015.
