35. SWOT analysis of the department and Future plans.
Strengths S1. Diligent and motivated faculty members who are instrumental in overall
development of the department. They are capable of adapting to new subjects and projects further capable of creating inquisitiveness in students and motivating and guiding them to take up innovative projects
S2. Faculty members are also highly motivated researchers and are keen to take up various research initiatives and funded projects like VGST and MODROBS.
S3. Industrious students of the department who reciprocate to the teachers efforts are the asset of the department.
S4. Students who are talented initiate and involve in many extra-curricular and co-curricular activities through different department forums.
Weaknesses W1. Paucity of industries around the city is a handicap to have industry
institute interaction and exposure for the students to the corporate environment.
W2. Few of the students from weaker educational background find it difficult at the initial stage to catch up with the advanced mathematically oriented subjects.
Opportunities O1.Good infrastructure provided to the department under various projects can
facilitate the teachers and students to innovate and involve in advanced learning.
O2.Growth in the country’s infrastructure and development in the industries could motivate the students to work hard and venture out into various endeavors for their better future.
Threats T1. Lack of freedom in structuring the curriculum as the technology
developments at the global level changing very fast.
Future Plans of the Department: > Establishment Industrial Research Centre and Consultancy > Planning to introduce M.Tech in Digital communication > Emphasis on personality development programmes to students along with
regular academics. > To improve the faculty research publication record with real time projects. > To make all the class rooms in the department as e-class rooms. > To attain all faculty have Ph.D. degree.
