I remember watching part of a college graduation address where the speaker said, "With this degree you are commis-sioned to go into the world and make a difference." The imagery conjured up in my mind by the use of the word "commissioned" was pretty powerful. I thought about the commissioning of military officers and the responsibility they took on for the lives of their subordinates but also the lives of those they protected. To me the word meant some-thing very serious and solemn. It meant huge responsibility and expectation. In the Bible, Jesus gives what we call the Great Com-mission: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Mt 28:19-20a). The word commission makes this more than a sug-gestion or a hope. There is an expectation, a responsibility, and a mandate. Of course, did you wake up this morning thinking about how you would fulfill the Great Commis-sion today? Sharing the faith is not just something we should do; it is something we must do. The key is that you don't need to speak all the time to share. It will be through your life of stewardship that others will be able to see Jesus. By giving of yourself, by always responding to the call, and by sur-rendering all to God, you will lead others to become disci-ples, to seek out the sacraments, and to observe his teach-ings. Yes, responding in full to the Great Commission, great things can happen.
Recuerdo que una vez estaba en una graduación y el ora-dor dijo: "Con este título, es su responsabilidad de salir al mundo y cambiar al mundo". Al escuchar esto, quedé conmovido, ya que esta comisión no iba ser cosa fácil. "Comisión" significaba algo muy serio y solemne. Repre-sentaba una responsabilidad enorme. En la Biblia Jesús nos da lo que llamamos la Gran Comi-sión: "Vayan, pues, y enseñen a todas las naciones, bauti-zándolas en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo" (Mt 28, 19-20). La palabra "comisión" significa más que una sugerencia. Es una expectativa, una responsabilidad. ¿Usted despertó esta mañana pensando en cómo iba a llevar a cabo la Gran Comisión hoy? Compartir la fe no es simplemente algo que podemos ha-cer, es algo que debemos hacer. La clave es que no nece-sita hablar todo el tiempo para compartir. Será también a través de su vida de corresponsabilidad que otros podrán ver a Jesús. En darse completamente al discipulado y en entregarse completamente a Dios, usted llevará a otros que se conviertan en discípulos, que busquen los sacra-mentos y que observen sus enseñanzas. De veras, al res-ponder plenamente a la Gran Comisión se pueden ocurrir cosas grandes.

In both Ascension accounts Jesus invites the disciples to reflect on who they are and to act accordingly. On the Ascension mount Jesus gives them a pep talk and command: You are my disciples. All power has been given me. Know that I am with you always so trust yourselves. Make disciples of others as I made disciples of you. They are afraid and need time to become confident of their discipleship through the power of the Holy Spirit. At baptism we joined the Church. We belong to him. The Ascension invites us to take time for prayer so that we can deepen our awareness that the Holy Spirit is within us. Rooted in this knowledge, believe more deeply. Then act on that faith. Congratulations to all our youth who have either received their First Communions or Confirmation this month. May you take time to realize the gifts you have been given and learn how to live with them.

En ambos relatos de la Ascensión, Jesús invita a los discípulos a reflexionar sobre quiénes son y actuar de acuerdo a quienes son. En el monte de la Ascensión, Jesús les da una plática y les ordena: Ustedes son mis discípulos. Todo el poder me ha sido dado. Sepan que estoy con
ustedes siempre, confíen en ustedes mismos. Hagan discípulos como yo los hice discípulos. Ellos tienen miedo y necesitan tiempo para confiar en su discipulado a través del poder del Espíritu Santo.
En el bautismo nos unimos a la Iglesia. Nosotros le pertenecemos. La Ascensión nos invita a tomar tiempo para orar para que podamos profundizar nuestra conciencia de que el Espíritu Santo está dentro de nosotros. Enraizados en este conocimiento, creen más profundamente. Entonces actúe sobre esa fe.

Linda and her family each month donate three sheet cakes for our guests on the 4th Saturday so that all of our guests can celebrate their birth-days with birthday cake and happy birthday being sung to them. Alice Sorrell-Thompson for sharing the home going cele-bration meal leftovers from her husband Chef Donald's repast with our guests. Carrie, Cathe-rine, John, Lisa SBHS student,
Celeste and the other volunteers who came offering there time and talent to serve and touch lives. God bless you , you have made such an awesome impacts on the lives of our guests. Praise be to God for these wingless angels and saints. We are hum-bly appreciative and grateful.
