Dorothy Day (Nov. 8, 1897 – Nov. 29, 1980)
God our Creator, your servant Dorothy Day
exemplified the Gospel by her life of prayer and voluntary poverty,
and through her works of mercy and witness to justice and peace. May her life inspire people
to turn to Jesus as their companion and guide, to see his face in the world’s poor
and raise their voices for the justice of God’s kingdom.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
JustFilms: A 3-part Film Series on Immigration Prayer, Conversation and Community
FILM 3: “One Border, One Body: Immigration and the Eucharist”
In the dry, rugged, and sun scorched terrain where many immigrants lose their lives, bishops, priests and lay people come together each year to celebrate the Eucharist. A 16-foot iron fence
divides this community in half, with one side in Mexico and the other in the United States. This DVD tells the story of a ritual that unites people beyond the political constrictions which divide them.
