Religious Education St. Alphonsus Religious Education

K-8th Grade Online Registration 2016-2017

Classes for kindergarten - 8th grade will be on Sundays at 9:35-10:50 am or 1st - 8th grade Mondays at 6:00-7:15 pm.

A student must satisfactorily complete a two-year program for each sacrament before receiving the sacrament of First Communion or Confirmation.

The first Sunday class begins on September 11 with parents and children

meeting in church at 9:40 am.

The Monday class begins on September 12 with parents and children meeting in church at 6:30 pm.

Tuition is $200 for one child, $300 for two children, and $400 for three or more children.

There is a $75 Confirmation fee and a $50 First Communion fee.

Full payment is due September 1, 2016.

Please go to the St. Alphonsus website (saintalphonsus.com) to register and pay online. Find Religious Education K-8 on the left side quick links. You will find the links to register

and pay online there.

NO CHILD WILL BE DENIED A RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS.

Are you in need of a ride to Mass or a local medical appointment? The Ministry of Care Transportation

Ministry can help! Volunteers are available to provide transportation for those who are unable to

Ministers of Care

Ministers of Care carry on Christ’s mission by

ministering to the spiritual needs of people with prayers and comfort in times of

sickness. We personally visit your home or hospital room. If you or a member of your family would like a visit from a Minister of Care, and have the Sacrament of Eucharist

FOOD PANTRY NEWS…

Thanks to your donations, 59 families were provided with bags of food at the August 20th Food Pantry distribution. In addition to our distribution of food on that day, all of the families with school age children received school supplies. We would like to thank all of the parishioners that donated school supplies. We would also like to thank all of the volunteers that helped with the sorting and distribution of the school supplies. We are blessed to have so many stewards giving their time, talent and treasure to our Food Pantry families!

Please help the Food Pantry by donating the following items: Boxes of cereal Cans of beans (kidney, refried, chili, etc.) Cans of fruit Boxes of macaroni & cheese Toilet paper

The Garden of Eatin’ (Vegetable Garden Ministry) is in need of volunteers to help plant and maintain the vegetable

garden. This parish ministry benefits the families that come to our Food Pantry for assistance and the Wheeling

American Heritage Girls allows girls to experience new challenges, serve others, make new friends and have tons of fun, all in a safe, faith-filled environment. Whether your daughter wants to learn more about aviation,

paddle a canoe, or ice the perfect cake, AHG’s program is ready to inspire her to new heights. Badge work, outdoor activities, community service, and working on religious medals are enjoyed within

age appropriate groups.

The R.C.I.A. (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process where those interested in learning about the Catholic faith come together on a weekly basis to learn about the scriptures and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and at the same time, discover where God is present in their lives.

The process is designed for those adults who are:

Not baptized Baptized in another tradition Baptized Catholic, but with no further religious training

The process includes the celebration of sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil. (May include the sacrament of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.) At St. Alphonsus we begin the process in September and continue through April. Regular scheduled sessions for R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation) will begin Thursday, September 15th at 7:00pm.

Doors of Mercy: Exploring God’s Covenant with You Join us! For only the fourth time in Church history, the Pope declared 2016 an Extraordinary Jubilee Year. And the focus? Mercy. Beyond the Parish . . . Villa Fest at Addolorata Villa! — Celebrate the final days of summer at Villa Fest! Sunday, September 11th from 10:30am – 3:00pm on the campus of Addolorata Villa. There will be fun and excitement for all ages. Bring the whole family and enjoy a barbecue lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers and more! There is something for everyone. The kids can enjoy a bounce in the moonwalk, play carnival games or have their faces painted. For adults, there are games of chance such as bingo, a money tree and prize raffle. Take a chance on winning a terrific prize at the “Christmas in September” booth!

Session Three: November 29, 2016 “Speaking with your Teen about the Tough Issues” - Fr. Charlie Bolser, C.S.V. Young people today experience confusion and tension between cultural norms and church teaching. Topics such as abortion, gay marriage, and immigration generate questions in the minds and hearts of our youth. Fr.
