Parishioners of St. Andrew Church, Dear to Christ,
Blessings and best wishes for a sublime Holy Week and a radiant Holy Pascha.
We have come to the end of the Lenten journey. We have been inspired to confess
the true faith on Orthodoxy Sunday. We have renewed our commitment to unite
ourselves to the Holy Trinity by prayer on the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas. We
bowed low before the Precious and Life-Giving Cross on the Third Sunday and
tasted the love of God poured out for us on the Cross. We resolved on the 4th
Sunday of St. John of Sinai to continue to climb the Ladder of the virtues that
stretches from where we are on earth to the heavens where Christ is gazing down
upon us with outstretched arms. We were washed in tears of repentance on the 5th
Sunday commemorating St. Mary of Egypt and renewed our baptismal covenant
with Christ to be warriors invincible to the end.
Now we lay aside our pious introspection and studious repentance in order to
stand next to our Lord Jesus Christ and walk with Him through the last holy days
of His earthly ministry. We will hear His last words. We will sit at the Mystical
Table. We will hear the unjust sentences read against Him. We will behold His
immeasurable humility. We will see Him bow His sacred head. We will take Him
down from the Cross. We will entomb Him. We will lament at His grave. We will
feel the ground shake as He plunders Hades, and we will participate in the
deliverance of souls as 15 of our own here are united to our Lord's death and
resurrection on Holy Saturday. And, wonder of wonders, we will partake of the
Resurrection of Christ our God, and hymn His triumph over death.
The Holy of Holies is upon us dear ones. Lay aside earthly cares. Bring yourself
to the Lord and behold your salvation. In Holy Week all time stands still. Come
and behold the mighty works of the Lord.
Kalo Pascha. A good and holy Pascha to you all.

Have the Holy Forty Days passed?!!
Is the fasting really drawing to an end??!!!!
O Lord, I promised You I would pray faithfully…
and the time has run out…
I promised You I would read my bible regularly…
but the time has flown…
I promised You I would fast…
but hunger overpowered me…
I promised You I would attend more services…
but business overwhelmed me…
I promised to speak so little…
but my tongue ran away with me…
I promised to stay up late in Your company…
but sleep overcame me…
I am now left with the last golden hours…
and the most precious week of every year…
O Lord… I pray to You…
Count me with those who came at the eleventh hour…
Fill me with Your presence and draw me close to You…
Teach me to share with You every moment…
From Palm Sunday… to the wounds of the Cross…
To the triumph of the Resurrection…
So that I can shout with joy forever...

The Ten Commandments
Some people have trouble with all those 'shall's' and 'shall not's' in the Ten Commandments.
Folks just aren't used to talking in those terms. So, in middle Tennessee they translated the
'King James' into “Jackson County” language..... no joke (posted on the wall at Cross Trails
Church in Gainesboro ,TN).
1. Just one God
2. Put nothin' before God
3. Watch yer mouth
4. Git yourself to Sabbath meetin'
5. Honor yer Ma & Pa
6. No killin'
7. No foolin' around with another fellow's gal
8. Don't take what ain't yers
9. No tellin' tales or gossipin'
10. Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff
Now that's plain an' simple.
Y'all have a nice day!

St. Andrew Community News, March 2009...
On Saturday, March 21, the Myrrhbearers of St. Andrew held their annual
Annunciation Tea. After receiving spiritual nourishment from our guest speaker,
Fr. Timothy Pavlatos, the ladies and their guests enjoyed the elaborate feast of
goodies they had prepared for this very special occasion to which they look forward
every year.
Our little girls, teens and ladies’ choirs gave their usual fantastic performances,
singing praises to our Lady, the Theotokos. During the Tea, Elizabeth Beck, once
again serenaded us with her beautiful fingers on the Harp.
