Collections

The collections for the weekend of May 27 will be reported in the June 10 bulletin. The second collection next weekend will provide for the special needs of our parish, specifically our efforts to fund the purchase of a replacement church organ. Thank you for your continued support of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.

Corpus Christi Procession & Reception

This Weekend

We will have our annual Corpus Christi Procession, immediate-

ly following the 12:30 p.m. Mass this Sunday, June 3. We will

carry our Eucharistic Lord amid prayers and hymns to outdoor

altars on the church property, where a blessing will be given.

The procession will conclude in the church with Benediction of

the Blessed Sacrament. We invite all our parish to come and

join us for this special and graced act of worship. A reception

will follow in Monsignor Hannan Hall.

First Sunday Devotions will not be held this Sunday.

The altar flowers this week have been donated in honor of:

The Craddock Family

Eucharistic Adoration The Feast of Corpus Christi is a propitious occasion to deepen one's faith and love of the Eucharist...Nourish yourselves frequently with the Body and Blood of Christ, our spiritual food. You will advance on the path of holiness. The Eucharist is support, light and consolation in trial and suffering. Find in this sacrament the spiritual energy to live the great love of Christ of which He gave us proof when giving us His Body and Blood. I invite the Christian community to join this ceremony of profound faith in the Eucharist which is the precious treasure of the Church and of humanity" (Pope Benedict XVI). On this most holy day, please prayerfully consider coming before The Blessed Sacrament in Eucharistic Adoration. This most intimate and private time between you and Jesus is truly life changing - Heaven on Earth! We have this awesome oppor-tunity every Thursday evening from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m., preceded by Benediction at 6:30 p.m. and followed by Mass at 7:00 p.m. Adoration is also every Friday beginning after the 8:45 Mass until 5:00 p.m. (and until 7:00 p.m. every First Friday). For more information or to sign up email Sharon Sheehy at [email protected]

all ages. No tickets or reservations needed.

A free-will offering will be collected and CDs will be available for sale. Ms. Simone will be donating the free-will offering and proceeds from sales that evening towards our church organ fund!

Theological Questions

Last week’s question: What are the words for the exchange of consent in the Catholic Rite of Mar-riage? The words spoken by the groom and by the bride are as follows: "I, [Name], take you, [Name], to be my wife/husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."

An alternative version is: "I, [Name], take you, [Name], for my lawful wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part."

If, however, it seems preferable for pastoral reasons, the priest may obtain consent from the couple through questions: “[Name], do you take [Name] to be your wife/husband? Do you promise to be faithful to her/him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love her/him and to honor her/him all the days of your life?” The bridegroom and the bride each reply: “I do.”

New Question: Does the Bible ever compare the voice of God to “thunder”? See next week’s bulletin for the answer.

Father’s Day Novena To enroll your fathers, living or deceased, in our Parish Novena of Masses beginning Father’s Day, June 17, and continuing for nine consecutive days, please use the Father’s Day remembrance envelope found in your monthly packet of envelopes or at the Church exits along with Father’s Day Novena cards.

Though no stipend is ever required to have your fathers, grandfathers and/or godfathers enrolled in our Novena, any gift you may wish to make is always appreciated.

The remembrance envelopes (and list of names if you use Faith Direct) may be placed in the regular Sunday collection basket or dropped off at the Parish Office.
