Dear Parishioner of St. Ann’s
We are living in difficult times. To say
that we are challenged by a world-wide pan-
demic is an understatement.
It is not just South Peabody that is suf-
fering the consequences of the limitations of
movement. Yet, for us, the neighborhood is
what matters.
The church is the center of our little
neighborhoods.
Maybe, for a while we won’t be able to
gather here in large numbers, yet, we still have
our many memories of celebrations that
brought families together.
And it will resume...
We have that inner sense that the
church will weather the storm, and we will rise
more joyful than ever, once the Coronavirus
has been brought under control.
St. Ann’s still needs your prayers and
your financial support. I will do my best, helped
out by the Finance Committee, to economize
during the time that the church is not fully
utilized.
Support envelopes can be mailed or can
be dropped at the parish office or through the
mail slot at the rectory.
As always I ask for God’s blessing upon
you and upon your families that you be pro-
tected and that your health be sustained.
Sincerely,
Father Stanley
and the Finance Committee.

LITURGY CORNER
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
2 Kings 4:8-11, 14-16a A Dream Come True Perhaps you have hoped for something that has never come to pass. All your life you had your heart fixed on one desire, but it has eluded your grasp. Perhaps you feel anger and take it out on people you love. Perhaps you have accepted this unrealized dream as a part of the life God calls you to live. The woman who offers hospitality to Elisha had such a dream. She wanted a child. But her hus-band was aging, and it appeared that her one de-sire would never come. The story, in the Second Book of Kings, indicates that she was a woman of influence. She may have had wealth and respect in her community, but she was unable to have the blessing she most wanted. All we know of her is her reputa-tion for hospitality. She was remembered not for her misery, not for her disappointment, but for opening her home to a traveling prophet. In the story’s happy ending, she receives the de-sire of her heart. But throughout, she is a model for those who hope for something good. She never gave up trusting in God. She practiced the one virtue she would need if her dream would ev-er be fulfilled: “hospitality.” Written by Paul Turner. Copyright © 2010, Resource Publications, Inc., 888-273-7782, www.rpinet.com.
