The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. Jesus was perfect in resisting temptation; however I by my own weakness find it hard to resist temptation, weakness or occasions to sin. This first Sunday of Lent calls me to look inside myself and to uncover all that is weak, then heal all that is weak and to bring out all that is upright, strong and good and strengthen it. The process for me, to heal all that is weak is to prepare to go to the sacrament of reconciliation and actually go to confes-sion. To confess my sins I am healed in a way that I did not even realize how much I was hurting and then to be absolved from those sins, the feeling of joy is indescribable. Once that I have let that healing of all that is weak, then I can concentrate on the upright, strong and good with God’s help, strengthen it so the next time I am tempted by Satan, hopefully I will make better choices.

El Espíritu llevó a Jesús al desierto, y El permaneció en el desierto por cuarenta días, tentado por Satanás. Jesús fue perfecto en resistir la tentación; sin embargo, por mi propia debilidad, encuentro difícil resistir la tentación, la debilidad o las ocasiones de pecar. Este primer domingo de Cuaresma me llama a mirar dentro de mí y descubrir todo lo que es débil, luego sanarlo y sacar todo lo que es recto, fuerte y bueno y fortalecerlo. El proceso para mí, para sanar todo lo que es débil, es prepararme para ir al sacramento de la reconciliación y acercarme a la con-fesión. Para confesar mis pecados, fui sanada de una manera que ni siquiera me di cuenta de cuánto estaba su-friendo y luego, para ser absuelta de esos pecados, la sensación de alegría es indescriptible. Una vez que he per-mitido sanar de todo lo que es débil, puedo concentrarme en lo recto, lo fuerte y lo bueno con la ayuda de Dios, fortalecerlo para que la próxima vez que sea tentada por Satanás, pueda tomar las mejores decisiones.

RCIA & RICA Sunday at the 8:00am Mass we will celebrate the “Rite of Sending for Election” with our catechumens Pedro Flores, Analia Ay-de Hernandez, Jared Sanchez, Snyder Varela, Edgar, Eduardo and Perla Villegas. Sunday at the 10:30am Mass we will celebrate the “Rite of Sending for the Call to Continuing Conversion” with our baptized candidate David Dingler.

The Church has discerned their readiness for reception of the initiation sacraments this Easter. After the rites are celebrated here this Sunday morning, these catechumens and the candidate along with their godparents and sponsors, will be sent by our parish to the Bishop for the “Rite of Election” for the catechumens and “Call to Contin-uing Conversion” for the candidate at Christ the King Parish. Based on the testimony given by the sponsors and our support of their readiness for the sacraments the bishop will declare the catechumens to be Elect, chosen by God for the sacraments this Easter. The Bishop also recognizes the desire of the baptized candidates for the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist within the Catholic Community.

St. Anne Church is now accepting requests for the school year 2018-19 for children in Catholic elementary. Applica-tions are now available at the parish office. Applications must be submitted to the parish office by 3/20, please submit your application as soon as possible.
