THIS WEEKEND: Leading our worship this weekend is Father Don Przybylski, a senior priest of the diocese living in Stevens Point. He was an associate pastor of St. Anne’s from 1974-78, a long-time pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in Stevens Point, and most recently pastor of St. Paul Parish in Mosinee. We are grateful for his willingness to share his ministry with us. God of might and God of mercy, ever ancient, ever new, we have gathered as your people to declare our faith in you. Drawn by hope, yet still uncertain, we implore you to come near. Show your face; draw back the curtain to reveal your presence here. God of pow’r and God of promise, we have sought you in your Word, so mysteriously spoken and so falteringly heard in our legends and our stories, in the dreams of prophets past, through the Christ who lives among us and his Spirit unsurpassed. God of symbol, God of substance, by your sacramental signs we encounter you among us in your power-filled designs. Help us recognize your presence in the gifts of field and vine: broken bread, a Christic body; outpoured cup, his love divine. “God of Might and God of Mercy” Michael Joncas Glory to God Mass of the Angels and Saints, Steven Janco

A PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Come, Holy Spirit, into our hearts, minds, and lives even if locked out

by fear, hurt, or ignorance.

Enkindle in us the same love that burned in the Apostles

and filled them with joy and zeal to go out to the whole world and spread the Good News.

In this time of confusion and division be the fire of faith to purge away all selfishness, rivalry, and hate.

Break down all barriers that divide us within your beautiful garden of Diversity that we might gather

into one community of faith with you as our God

and we as your children. We pray through Christ our Lord.

Amen

Psalm 72, “Every Nation on Earth” Michael Joncas

Gospel Acclamation Mass of the Angels and Saints, Steven Janco

Profession of Faith (The Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was cru-cified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrec-tion of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

General Intercessions: We will conclude the prayers of intercession with this dialogue: Priest: May the Divine Assistance be with us always.

ALL: And with our absent sisters and brothers. Amen.

Mystery of Faith

DO THE RIGHT THING: In today’s first reading, the Lord speaks through the proph-et Isaiah during a time of political dissolu-tion and moral decline. The prophet had warned of God’s judgment against people for the feelings of self-importance they found in their possessions, and condemned them for various forms of economic injus-tice such as exploiting the poor and immi-grants. Good stewards know that Isaiah’s message is as compelling today as it was in the time of the kingdom of Judah: Do the right thing. Offer justice and compassion toward others. Be honest in all your deal-ings. And remember to observe the day of the Lord. — International Catholic Stewardship Council

MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO GATHER FOR MASS

As we get into our new routine of gather-ing for Mass twice each Lord’s Day we renew the invitation to Readers and Servers to resume your ministries. Please send an email to [email protected] to let us know of your willingness. Most importantly, we are seek-ing more Welcome Ministers for both Masses. These are the people who make it possible for us to gather each weekend in that they facilitate the distri-bution of worship aids and masks, guid-ing people to their seats and making sure doors are open as Mass concludes. We will offer complete orientation to prepare you for this ministry. If you are willing to join in this essential ministry, send an email to [email protected]. Our current Welcome Ministers have done a great job as we’ve returned to Mass, with many assisting on multiple weekends, sometimes several weeks in a row. We want to alleviate that burden going forward. Ideally, with multiple min-isters, we can have a rotation of minis-ters assisting once every few weeks. Finally, THANK YOU to all of the generous parishioners who are helping us worship during this time of precau-tion.

FIRST COM-MUNION: Elise Goetsch re-ceived the Body of Christ for the first time at Mass last Saturday. Her parents are Jeremy and Kati Goe-tsch.

“Taste and See” Psalm 34, James E. Moore Jr.

A Prayer for Comm-union We give thanks to you God for your divine life within us. Fill our hearts with gratitude for the sacramental presence of your son, Jesus Christ. Increase in us faith, hope and love so that we can be His presence in the world. We make this prayer through Christ, with whom we are united wheth-er together or apart, He who is Lord, forever and ever. Amen.

God of hope and God of healing, we still find you in the poor, in the refugee, the orphan, ev’ry stranger at our door. We now glimpse you, torn and broken in our torn and broken earth. Bless our fragile, stumbling efforts as your kingdom comes to birth.

God of might and God of mercy, ever ancient, ever new, you have summoned us your people our allegiance to renew. Come and guide us on our journey when we leave this holy place through our days of sun and shadow till we see you face to face.

Reflecting on Today’s Readings Through the prophet Isaiah, the Lord urges his people to “observe what is right, do what is just.” Where is justice lacking in our community or in our nation? How might God be calling you to advocate for justice? The Canaanite woman is per-sistent in her request that Jesus heal her daughter. Where are you being called to persistence in prayer? Jesus tells us, “Woman, great is your faith!” Who has been a model of faith for you in your life?” - from Living Liturgy 2020, Brian Schmisek, Katy Beedle Rice, Diana Macalintal, Liturgical Press, Collegeville, Minn., www.litpress.org.

Easter Sacraments of Initiation Caroline Stabe and Violet Smith-Riggs became initiated disciples of Jesus as our community cele-brated with them the sacra-ments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist last Sunday morn-ing. This celebration was de-layed from the Easter Vigil. Violet will enter the third grade at Newman-St. Mark Ele-mentary School and is the daughter of Nicole Riggs. Caroline will be a third-grader at Lincoln Elementary School and is the daughter of Pete and Theresa Menutes. At the end of Mass, Fr. Tom forgot to mention that in normal times we would have a reception to further the celebra-tion and possibly enjoy Violet and Caroline’s favorite foods: burritos and chicken nuggets.
