Como leemos en el Evangelio de hoy, en la presentación de Jesús en el templo, se le dijo a María que una espada le atravesaría el corazón. Ninguna madre se alegraría de escuchar semejante predicción sobre su bebé. Su primera experiencia de la espada que atravesó su corazón fue cuando la Sagrada Familia huyó a Egipto para salvar a Jesús de la ira de Herodes. Otra experiencia traumática fue cuando Jesús se separó de ellos después de la fiesta de la Pascua en Jerusalén. María y José encontraron a Jesús en el templo después de buscarlo durante tres días.
En todos sus altibajos, María y José permanecieron juntos. Como dice el Evangelio, Jesús creció bajo su protección y se hizo fuerte, lleno de sabiduría; y la gracia de Dios estaba con él.
¿Qué podemos aprender de la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, María y José para evitar que nuestras familias se desmoronen y también para que nuestras familias sean tan sagradas como Dios las hizo desde la creación? El Papa Pablo VI describió a la Sagrada Familia como una escuela de Nazaret donde aprendemos la verdadera ciencia de la vida y la sabiduría superior de la verdad divina.
Se nos anima a poner la fe en Dios en todas nuestras consideraciones y acciones. La fe en Dios es la llave maestra para un hogar feliz. Cuando una familia pone su fe en Dios, el Espíritu de Dios ministra fácilmente a los miembros para apoyarse unos a otros, animarse unos a otros y estar presentes los unos con los otros. Fr. As we read in today’s Gospel, at the presentation of Jesus in the temple, Mary was told that a sword would pierce her heart. No mother would be glad to hear such a prediction concerning her baby. Her first experience of the sword piercing her heart was when the Holy Family fled to Egypt to save Jesus from Herod’s wrath. Another traumatic experience was when Jesus got separated from them after the feast of Passover in Jerusalem. Mary and Joseph found Jesus in the temple after searching for him for three days.
In all their ups and downs, Mary and Joseph remained together. As the Gospel says, Jesus grew under them and became strong, filled with wisdom; and God’s favor rested upon him.
What can we learn from the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in order to keep our families from falling apart, and also keep our families as sacred as God made them to be from creation? Pope Paul VI described the Holy Family as a school of Nazareth where we learn true science of life and the higher wisdom of divine truth.
We are encouraged to put our faith in God, all our considerations and actions. Faith in God is the master key to a happy home. When a family puts their faith in God, the Spirit of God easily ministers to the members to support one another, encourage one another and be present for one another. Fr. Martin Eke, MSP

The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, our Lady's greatest title. This feast is the octave of Christmas. In the modern Roman Calendar only Christmas and Easter enjoy the privilege of an octave. According to the 1962 Missal of St. John XXIII the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, today is the Solemnity of Circumcision of Our Lord. "Mary, the all-holy ever-virgin Mother of God, is the masterwork of the mission of the Son and the Spirit in the fullness of time. For the first time in the plan of salvation and because his Spirit had prepared her, the Father found the dwelling place where his Son and his Spirit could dwell among men. In this sense the Church's Tradition has often read the most beautiful texts on wisdom in relation to Mary. Mary is acclaimed and represented in the liturgy as the "Seat of Wisdom." — Catechism of the Catholic Church 721 A plenary indulgence may be gained by reciting or singing the hymn Veni Creator Spiritus on the first day of the year. This hymn is traditionally sung for beginning of things, calling on the Holy Spirit before endeavoring something new.

La Solemnidad de María, Madre de Dios, el título más grande de Nuestra Señora. Esta fiesta es la octava de Navidad.
