SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 21, 2019

ADORATION SCHEDULE

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8AM to 10 PM

Wednesday 9:00 AM –10PM

MASS INTENTION: There are still some weekday Masses available in our Mass Book. Please feel free to call the Parish Center or stop by the office if you would like to requested a Mass.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL St. Bonaventure’s St. Vincent de Paul group wants to remind parishioners that the group’s mission is to confidentially help the needy. If you know of someone in our area that needs assistance with food, utility bills, etc., please call the Parish Office at 412-

486-2606 Ext. 101. We gratefully thank all who gen-erously contribute to the Poor Box which helps to fund the work of our St. Vincent de Paul Society.

From the desk of the Administrator

A couple rounds of appreciation this new week. We have much for which we are all grateful. The first note of appreciation goes out for the SBP Picnic. What a great time was had by all! The food was delicious, as always. The drinks were cool. Congratulations to Jonah Soucy who won the 50/50. A big thanks to the picnic committee and the Knights of Columbus for all their hard work. As of press time, we are anticipating the ASP Fes-tival. So, a shout out of pre-appreciation to the Fes-tival Committee and the volunteers. Much hard work goes into it to make it the great event it is eve-ry year. A fuller report (recap and financial) will be forthcoming. Upcoming is a party at SAP! A welcome reception is taking place this coming Saturday, July 27th fol-lowing the 4:00 PM Mass. It will take place in the second-floor social hall. (A chair lift is available for those needing it.) I will be present as will, I hope schedules allow, the whole clergy team. There is also an ice cream social on Sunday evening for the whole community. Of course, there’s always more to say regarding the Grouping re-boot! A few more thoughts in the space remaining… As we journey On Mission for the Church Alive! we have to remember to use our pronouns correct-ly. I have consistently said to people that there is no “them” in this process; there is only “us”. We, all four parishes, are in this together. I often hear, “We need more of …” which really means, “I want more of…”. Therefore, there is also no “I” in this process; there is only the collective “we”. Therefore, what a blessing “we” have in terms of what is available to “us”. There are eight Sunday Masses to fulfill that obligation. There are eleven Masses during the week for those wishing to at-tend. There are four hours available to find God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We have an adoration chapel. I recently ran into a blog post asking “How far would you drive to go to Mass?” You can find it at https://detroitcatholic.com/voices/greg-erlandson/how-far-would-you-drive-to-go-to-mass-in-the-future-it-might-not-be-optional. We have contracted with ACCESS for those who can’t drive and wish to get to Mass or confession or any event at any of our four parishes. None of our parishes are really that distant geographically from each other. Sadly, the distances are psychological!!! If you truly value the Eucharist, you will seek it out.

See you in Church! Fr. Jim Gretz

Last Sunday’s Attendance (July 13/14): 4:00 pm (SAP) - 201 9:00 am (ASP) - 187 4:00 pm (SBP) - 380 10:00 am (SBP) - 512 7:30 am (SBP) - 298 11:00 am (HSP) - 96 8:30 am (HSP) - 132 11:30 am (ASP) - 169

THANK YOU TO ALL who came to the Parish Picnic. The food was deli-cious. The entertainment was GREAT!! A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE YOUTH GROUP who came on

Friday before they left for their Steubenville trip to set up tables and chairs and helped take them down when they returned on Sunday. The Picnic Committee is especially grateful for their help.

SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 21, 2019

HOLY SPIRIT PARISH -PARISH PICNIC JUST WEEKS AWAY: Holy Spirit’s Annual Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 18th at Millvale Riverfront Park un-der Washington’s Crossing. Once again, we wish to ex-

tend invitations to the parishes in our grouping. The picnic starts at `1pm and ends around 6pm. Food will be served between the hours of 1pm and 4pm.Holy Spirit Christian Mothers provide the hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, water, ice tea and lemonade. The ushers will cook. Parishioners are requested to bring a food item (enough for 10 persons) and follow the chart by your last name to bring the following: A-F – Desserts; G-P – Salads and Side Dishes; Q-Z – appetizers. Our friends from the other parishes in our grouping are invited to just bring yourselves and enjoy this opportunity to get to know one another in an informal setting. Last year we had a nice representative group from each of the parishes. And by the way, if you wish to bring a food item, that’s great but not necessary! Most important: please call the parish office at 412-821-4424 and give your last name, parish affiliation and the number attending from your family. This greatly helps in our preparations.

RETIRED? LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO? Ladies of Charity Caregiving is looking for home caregivers. Have you or are you currently volunteer-ing your services to help out someone in their home? You can do this same kind of service and re-ceive a paycheck by joining the Ladies of Charity Inc. as a caregiver. Hours are flexible to your satisfac-tion. We are receiving many calls from children of el-derly parents who would like someone to be in the home with their mother or father for just a short time (3-4) hours a day, one, two or three days a week. Some need help dressing, maybe making sure they get breakfast or lunch, help with a little laundry or just re-minders that these chores need to be done. Some just need companionship. We need caregivers who care and do what they do out of love. Who else better than a Lady of Charity who is already doing just that! Think about it. For more information contact the Lady of Charity Caregiving Office - 412-731-4100 or [email protected]

MISSION OF MERCY PITTSBURGH: The 3rd Annual Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh is a FREE dental clinic, where our underserved friends and neighbors can receive the care they need. This year’s clinic will be held Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 at PPG Paints Arena. Doors open at 6 am, clinic service be-gins at 7 am. Patients should come prepared to wait for treatment, as this is a first-come, first served clinic until capacity is reached each day. Wellness re-sources will also be available to all patients who at-tend the clinic. There are no eligibility or income re-quirements; no appointments or pre-registration; and service is limited to one procedure per patient per day. This event is truly life-changing for the most vulnera-ble members of society who will receive the care they both need and deserve—elevating their dignity, allevi-ating their pain, increasing their confidence and giving them their bright smiles back. Caring, compassionate volunteers are critical to the success of the event. We are still in need of volunteers―especially dentists and other medical professionals―so kindly consider giving your time. For information about the clinic, including how to volunteer, visit www.mompgh.org.
