Thank you for your prayers for our students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Sunday at the 10am Mass. It was a beauti-ful Mass. Bishop Ricken was markedly im-pressed by the commitment of faith that he witnessed in so many of our young people. I was also moved by their faith that seeks to draw closer to God and to stay near him. Pray

that the sealing of the gift of the Holy Spirit conferred upon them will be stirred into a flame and kept burning brightly as a living witness of God in the world. We continue to receive constructive feedback on our Welcome Desk. Remember to say hello to our rotating parish staff who have accepted this call to serve you. We have children’s books available at the welcome desk if you would like to take a bag for your family at any Mass. We ask that you return them after Mass or if you forget simply return them the following week. We encourage you also to consider being a Greeter for a future Saturday or Sunday Mass. Simply go to the Welcome Desk and take one of our Greeter lanyards and place it over your head. You could also grab some song sheets or bulletins if you wish and welcome persons to our parish as they enter. If you notice someone new in particular, be sure to say hello and wel-come them. Feel free to pass them a song sheet. Thank you for considering this! This week is the Holy Day of All Saints on Friday November 1st. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. We will offer a Vigil Mass for the Holy Day on October 31st at 5:30pm. On Friday we will have a parish Mass at 8:45am, a school Mass at 10:15am and a Holy Day evening parish Mass at 5:30pm. There are also many other options in the city with both earlier and later times. I would encourage you to see what you can do in your schedule to worship with us or a neighboring parish on this great Feast of All Saints. November 2nd is All Soul’s Day. It is officially called “The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed”. This year it falls on a Saturday and will be officially ended by the 4pm Sat-urday Vigil Mass for Sunday. We will still take the opportunity though at the 4pm Saturday Mass on November 2nd to read the names of our parishioners who have passed away since Novem-ber 2nd, 2018. Many of the families of our deceased parishion-ers will be represented at this Mass and the theme will be one of consolation and prayer. Join me in asking God’s continued healing in the hearts of so many who grieve the loss of family and friends. We continue to extend our sympathy and prayers to our own Deacon Keith Holschbach. Deacon Keith lost his beloved wife Mary Ellen just a little over a week ago. She was a beautiful soul. We offered her Funeral Mass on Friday October 18th. Many parishioners joined us for prayer and I thank you for your presence. Their granddaughter was confirmed this past Sunday and Deacon Keith served at the Altar alongside Bishop. His faith, love and trust in God in the midst of sorrow gave heroic witness to endurance through suffering. Thank you Deacon Keith. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time “...for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” LUKE 18:14

Pride and ego is the root cause of most of our sins. Thinking your time is so valuable, your talent is better than anyone else and your money gives you status is another way of making those things “gods” before God. Remember all those gifts were God-given. Instead we should be humbled by God’s abundant generosity and our hearts should overflow with Gratitude.

Evangelization Coordinator St. Bernard Parish, Green Bay, is looking for a dedicated and faith-filled individual to help direct and coordinate the evange-lization efforts of our parish. The individual would work collaboratively with the Pastor and the Leadership Team to ensure that a comprehensive and consistent effort for evangeli-zation is being carried out in the parish across the board. The position would oversee the renewal and reinventing of our middle and high school age youth efforts, the renewal of how our young families encountering sacraments and/or joining parish are received and accompanied, the igniting of outreach to our marginally involved parish and school families, and educating the variety of parish life service organizations on seizing evangelization opportunities. The position would help the Pastor and Leadership Team em-power the parish members to become engaged in evangeliza-tion. The candidate needs to have the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed. This is a full-time position. If you wish to apply, please call or email: Fr. Mark Vander Steeg 920-468-4811 or [email protected].
