Think about converting ... many people you know examined Catholicism and found it to be their best option for spiritual growth. Join us with...Dave Brubeck - jazz musician, Prime Minister Tony Blair, Heywood Broun - sports writer, Kenneth Clark - British art historian, Kim Dae Jung - former President of S. Korea, Fay Dunaway - actress, Black Elk - Ogala medicine man, Mark Galli - former editor of Christianity Today, former Rep. Newt Gingrich, Alec Guiness - British actor (Obi Wan Kenobi), Gerard Manley Hopkins - British poet and later Jesuit, former LA governor Bobby Jindal We have a richness that most people only scratch. Often it takes a convert to unearth it and shine on spotlight on our treasures.
At times, we are afraid to open our eyes; we are afraid to accept the
sudden manifestations of God who call us to love our brothers and
sisters, and also to forgive them. Even we Christians are afraid to go against the tide, to make gestures of sharing and communion, to open our
hearts to the service of others, to make strong evangelical choices.
~Cardinal Carlo Martini

Prayer to Begin a School Year
Blessed are you, Lord God, Creator of body and mind and heart; you have sent the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge to
guide your people in all their ways. At the beginning of this new school year we implore your
mercy: bless the students, teachers, and staff of our schools, that together we may grow in faith, hope, and love as we learn
from you and each other how to follow your Son Jesus. Expand the horizons of our minds, that we may grow in
wisdom, understanding, and knowledge; deepen our commitment to seek the truth of your ways; and enliven our
faith to reach out to those in need. Glory and praise to you, Lord God, in the Church and in
Christ Jesus forever and ever. R/. Amen
I will spend my Heaven by doing good on Earth.
