From the Pastor’s Desk…. Many works of art have depicted today’s Gospel: Jesus giving Peter the keys to the Kingdom
of Heaven. If you look carefully at the paintings, you will notice that the keys are usually two
different colors: gold and silver. And if you examine the Vatican flag in the vestibule, you will
observe that one key is shiny yellow while the other has a light gray hue…… Why is one key
gold and the other silver? An English author named Dorothy L. Sayers explained the symbol-
ism in her commentary on Dante’s Divine Comedy. She summed up centuries of interpretation
by Christian writers. Beginning with what is most important, she says that the golden key
represents the power to forgive sins. Won by the Passion of Christ, it has by far the greatest
worth…… Nevertheless, the silver key is also necessary for salvation. It unlocks the heart of
the repentant sinner, disentangling the tentacles of sin. Using the silver key requires great pa-
tience, skill and hard work. It is not enough to say, “God will forgive me. Everything is OK.”
Repentance includes something more: the effort to uproot the weeds, to counteract the effects
of sin.

Św. Paweł w dzisiejszym drugim czytaniu mówi: „O głębokości bogactw, mądrości i wiedzy
Boga! To zdanie
potwierdza, że Bóg jest całkowicie inny. I dzięki Bogu! Przez to nasze życie zyskuje
bezkresne perspektywy, przewyższające nasze ograniczone horyzonty. My, ludzie, jesteśmy

quiere paciencia, habilidad y trabajo duro.

Reflections from Fr. Emil …. THE CHURCH - REVEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
When the work which the Father gave the Son to do on earth was accomplished, the Holy Spirit was sent on the day of
Pentecost in order that he might continually sanctify the Church. Then the Church was openly displayed to the crowds
and the spread of the Gospel among the nations, through preaching, was begun. As the convocation of all men for salva-
tion the Church in her very nature is missionary, sent by Christ to all the nations to make disciples of them.
So that she can fulfill her mission, the Holy Spirit bestows upon the Church varied hierarchic and charismatic gifts, and
in this way directs her. Henceforward the Church, endowed with the gifts of her founder and faithfully observing his
precepts of charity, humility and self-denial, receives the mission of proclaiming and establishing among all peoples the
Kingdom of Christ and of God, and she is on earth the seed and the beginning of that kingdom.

Duchu dostęp do Ojca.
Aby Kościół mógł wypełnić swoje posłanie, Duch Święty, uposaża go w rozmaite dary hierarchiczne oraz
charyzmatyczne i przy ich pomocy nim kieruje. Kosciół więc wyposażony w dary swego Założyciela i wiernie
zachowujący Jego przykazania miłości, pokory i wyrzeczenia, otrzymuje posłanie głoszenia Królestwa Chrystusa i Boga

PREPARING FOR THE NEW TRANSLATION OF THE MASS
The Introductory Rites On the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011, Catholic parishes in the United States will begin praying
the texts of the Mass using a new English translation of The Roman Missal. This week, we explore the Introductory Rites
of the Mass.
Every time we gather for Eucharist, each of us comes with our own preoccupations and concerns. The Introduc-
tory Rites of the Mass are intended to draw us out of our own little worlds and form us into an assembly of God’s peo-
ple, the Body of Christ, ready to render our praise and thanksgiving to God. Each element is designed to play its own
role in uniting us as a worshiping people and calling us into God’s presence. We hear each other’s voices in the opening
song and the Glory to God; we remember who we are as God’s people through the Sign of the Cross, the Greeting, and
the Penitential Act; and we prepare ourselves for today’s particular celebration in the opening prayer or Collect. If we
allow the Introductory Rites to do their work, we will be ready to celebrate the Eucharist as one people in God.
